Chapter 13

"Hey Natalie, can you hear me?" Is what she hears when she comes to. " Yes, I can hear you Emma. I'm fine.......... where's—where's Elijah? Where am I?" Charles goes to her side and holds her hand. "Lily left with him. It happened two days ago." She was shocked, it's been two days? "What two days? What—well, where's Noah? How's my mom?" They all look at each other.

"You're mom?" Charles asks, "Nat, your mom-" Emma stops him before he can finish. "Everyone, let's just go outside and give her some space. I'll be right back Nat." They all leave her room. "Emma what's wrong with her?" Josie asks, looking to where Natalie was laying and back to Emma. "I think she has temporary amnesia because of bleeding in her brain. I have to look into it but in the meantime, just keep her busy. Try to steer the conversation in another direction when she asks questions she should have memory of. "Wait wait wait wait. What do you mean her brain is bleeding?" Charles asks her before she tries to leave. She sighs and looks at him and Josie. "There's something I have to tell you guys." she says.

"Natalie has a brain tumor, that's what's causing the memory loss." Charles couldn't believe it, why didn't she tell him? "What? Since when?" he asks. "Look, she just didn't want to say anything because she didn't want anyone to worry about her Charles." Josie says.

Charles looks over at Jose in disbelief.
"You knew?" he asks her. She looks away in shame before answering his question. "Yes, yes I did. She just didn't want you to worry about her Charles." Charles sits down on the chairs outside Natalie's room. "Not to worry? I have a son with her, I'll always worry about her. This-this is crazy. Are you gonna do the surgery Emma?"

"I'm not a surgeon but we have some of the best. She'll be in good hands. The surgery will be today as soon as the surgeon gets here." Emma assures him. "Alright, can I go back in now?" He asks. She nods and leaves to take care of a few things. He and Josie enter the room. Josie says goodbye to Natalie, who is now fast asleep, and says she'll be back after the surgery.

A couple hours later, Emma comes in with a man following behind her. He goes to where Natalie was laying and kisses her hand. Charles didn't like this at all. Who the hell is this? And why did he just kiss her hand.

"Charles, this is Christ Lee, the doctor who'll  do the surgery." He puts his hand out for Charles to shake, so he does. "Hi, I'm Christ, I've heard a lot about you." he says and chuckles. "Can't really say the same about you." Charles says. Both men felt the tension between them but nothing was said out loud.
