Elijah

Lorelei began moving in my arms as she slept. After that rather problematic council meeting we had I can't say I blame her for just sleeping. That was a little scary.

One thing I don't like is how America just decided that we were going to put all faith into Orion b without talking it over with us or at least letting us know what she was going to do. Soon we are approaching our highrise and Lorelei is shaking a little. I take off my old army jacket and wrap it around her shoulders but she is still shaking.

I reach over and place the backside of my hand on her forehead and it wasn't abnormally warm at all. She seemed to not have a temperature at all which seemed odd since she appeared to have a cold.

As the Taxi stopped at our highrise I got out and took Lorelei with me. I quickly dropped a wad of cash in the driver's hand and walked into our building.

When I walked in I saw Tori and Sage chatting in the lobby. Although it's only been two weeks since I saw them last it feels like months. I walked over and greeted them.

"Elijah, it's so nice to see you again!" Tori exclaimed as she saw me.

"I don't mean to sound rude but shouldn't you be on your honeymoon right now?" Sage asked.

"Oh you know, things came up and we had to end early." I rolled my eyes.

"Things always come up don't they." Tori laughed.

"Hey, is Lorelei okay? She looks like she is out cold." Sage pointed out.

"I think she is fine. Just a cold."

Sage frowned.

"Does she have a temperature?" He asked as he placed the backside of his hand against her forehead.

"I don't think so." I frowned now too.

" Well if she doesn't get better in the next few days just take her to Alivia. She specializes in that sort of stuff." Sage told me.

I nodded and walked to the elevator.

When I got up to our apartment it felt strange being there because everything seemed to quiet. I turned on a light and set Lorelei on our bed. She stirred a little but didn't wake up. I began looking through my textbooks because I knew I had a test coming up soon. I began flipping through the pages and I found the blueprints for the Darkness.

The Darkness has always shocked me in the way it was built. It was shocking to me that it was as fast as it was. The ship was built almost six hundred years ago. It's kind of sad that it got torn apart for scrap metal.

It was a major part of our colony's history and now its gone.

"What are you looking at?" Lorelei asked sleepily.

"Oh you're awake." I wrapped an arm around her.

"Is that the Darkness?" Lorelei asked as she leaned back into my chest.

"Yeah, I'm just marvelling at this technological construction of pure genius."

Lorelei snorted. I looked back at her and she started laughing.

"What are you laughing at Lorelei?"

"Sorry you just sounded like such a nerd." She starts shaking with laughter.

"And what's wrong with that 'Mrs I graduated College at 17'"

"Well, that's different." Lorelei defended.

"Is it, is it really though?" I asked in my most sarcastic voice.

"Shut up Elijah." She laughed.

Lorelei cuddled up against me and shivered a bit. I pulled a blanket on the bed and wrapped it around her shoulders.

"Hey, seriously are you feeling okay?" I asked her.

"Yea I'm feeling much better."

"I still want you to go to Alivia."

"If it will make you feel better, I will go to the doctor."

I went back to reading the textbook and Lorelei was still leaning on me and I wrapped my arm around her as I kept studying. When the doorbell started ringing Lorelei and I jumped.

I kissed her forehead and got up to answer the door.

When I opened the door, America was standing in the doorway.

"You and Lorelei need to come to this meeting. It's optional but shouldn't be." She commanded.

"Um, I don't think we will. I have a lot of homework to catch up on and I think Lorelei caught a bug. Sorry."

America's face contorted.

"Are you making excuses Elijah?"

"No I'm staying home to take care of my sick wife and to do homework so I don't get kicked out of college."

I don't know what has gotten into America's head. She is usually so understanding with me and Lorelei's schedule.

"Elijah who is here?" Lorelei walked over to the doorway.

"It's America and you two are going to a meeting with me."

"Oh actually I don't think it's good for me to be going out right now. Elijah says I might be contagious. Also I have a lot of work to catch up with."

"Lorelei the stars can wait and Elijah you are acting like a child!"

That really pissed me off.

"Excuse me?"

"The Lorelei and Elijah I used to know would only miss a meeting if they were dead. Where did they go?"

Lorelei's eyebrows furrowed. She wasn't liking this.

"Well America let me explain something to you. On my fifteenth birthday my home blew up taking my right leg and part of my left arm while also putting me into a coma. While in my coma my mom died. The day I woke up from my coma my dad died. Then we landed and I convinced myself that things would get better. But no, you know what happened? I got torn apart, put back together again, torchered, kidnapped, thrown into a fighting arena, put into a drug induced coma, went undercover with little to no backup, betrayed, betrayed again, broken bones, getting shot a few times, a full blown war. Not to mention the mental disorders I acquired from all of that. Depression, Insomnia, PTSD, Paranoia, and countless others. All of that happened to me from ages 15-16 so I'm sorry if I was scared to the point where I was afraid to have an opinion in this godforsaken world. But we aren't going and don't you ever call us children again because we were forced to grow up at a very young age, something you never had to do. And I am so so very sorry that I wanted to get away from the person I used to be and all the things she had to go through." Lorelei yelled.

"I get that you had a rough childhood but you can't play that card every time you don't want to go to something Lorelei. It's really childish."

Lorelei paled before getting beet red.

"Did you not hear anything I said?" Lorelei looked more offended that I have ever seen her.

"Lorelei-" America started.

"NO! GET THE HELL OUT OF OUR HOUSE," I roared at her.

"But-"

"No you came to my house, insulted me, and now you are insulting my wife? Get out. I don't want to see you." I slammed the door on America and locked it.

I looked at Lorelei and she was wiping a tear from her face.

"Hey, hey, hey, what's wrong Lore?" I asked as I quickly wrapped my arms around her.

"Am I really childish?"

"No. I don't know what was going on with America but you aren't childish Lorelei." I assured her.
