Lorelei and I left our Reception quietly. We dragged August out of the party to fly us. It took a while to find him but as soon as we did we were out of there because he wanted to be back with Enoch as soon as possible.
When we were situated in the back of the jet we weren't moving so Elijah got up to check on August. As soon as he did August turned around in his seat.
"Elijah sit down so I can tell you all my rules." August was a little annoyed right now.
Elijah finds his seat next to me and takes my hand in his own.
"Okay. Rule number one, this is only a thirty minute flight, so please, don't get up. Rule number two, do not be loud. Rule number three, don't make a mess of my airplane. Rule number four, if you ignore rule number three I will have your head. Rule number five, don't be complaining or else I will turn the plane around. Finally rule number six, don't you dare have sex in the back of my plane. Elijah, I'm looking at you, keep your hands off your wife." August pointed at me.
Lorelei was dying of laughter in the seat next to me.
"It takes two to tango, Lorelei" August pointed out.
"Thank you."
Lorelei starts laughing again. I can hear August chuckling from the cockpit. Then our plane starts to move. Lorelei immediately curls up and begins to sleep on my shoulder. I lightly brush her hair out of her face trying not to wake her up.
She has probably had a long day dealing with a bunch of people and she needs to recharge a bit. While watching over Lorelei I felt my own eyes drift close but I wasn't sleeping.
I was imagining Lorelei walking down that aisle again. She looked like nothing could even come in her way. I wanted to stay in that moment forever. But of course I couldn't
"Elijah wake up! We are here." August yells at me.
"Geez, who pissed in your coffee?" I asked as I yawned a little.
Lorelei was still asleep so I picked her up. She stirred a little in my arms as I walk us off the airplane. I take in the scene. In front of me is a giant Ocean that spreads on for miles and miles. And below the surface is a giant colony of single celled organisms that make up a beautiful luminescent spiral.
"It's beautiful isn't it?" August asks as he gazes at the Ocean.
"Gorgeous." I breathe.
Then August walks back to his plane and I am alone. Physically I am not alone, but Lorelei's mind is far away. Possibly worlds away from me.
There are no lights on in the cottage and so I am standing in almost complete darkness. The only light is the three moons, stars and Nebula ocean.
I see the change in my eyesight almost immediately. It's still dark outside but I can see everything. It's not natural, no that's not the word I'm looking for, it's not human.
I walk over to the cottage but cottage isn't a really appropriate word for the building. It is quite large. I open the door and turn on a lamp light. In the dim glow of the lamp I take in the house. It's a little dusty but otherwise in the same condition as I left it.
I walked around with Lorelei still in my arms. Finally I find the master bedroom and set her down on the bed. The "Cottage", which really shouldn't be a cottage has three bedrooms, one bathroom and one master bathroom, and a full sized kitchen. In other words, it's quite large.
It might be a while until Lorelei wakes up so I decided I would go swimming. I stepped out of the house and sat outside until August had left.
As soon as he was gone I stripped off my jeans and shirt until I was only in boxers. I left them in the sand and stepped into the water. The night was unusually warm and so the cool water felt good against my skin.
I stood in the water for what seemed like hours before finally diving underneath the surface. It felt so nice to be underneath the cold water. I began swimming in the blackness and then paused and opened my eyes.
I was a little surprised when the salt water didn't affect hurt or strain my eyesight. It almost seemed to enhance it. And it in no way prepared me for what was under the water. It was so beautiful that I almost can't describe it.
It can only be described as a symphony of color. The water was so clear you could see the colonies of color perfectly. I stayed under the water for a few minutes until I felt the familiar pull for oxygen. I swam up to the surface and breathed the fresh air. The wind bit my skin.
As soon as I had a breath of air in my lungs I enter the water again and I had to stop myself from gasping. The colors assaulted my eyes. I felt like I could stay there forever. But then I felt the presence of another.
I swam up to the surface. When I saw Lorelei standing in front of me my eyes widen.
"Elijah how long have you been out here?" She asked me.
"I lost track of time," I respond honestly.
"It's been three hours since we got here."
"What? Have you been lonely?" I asked her.
"What? No." She sputtered.
"Did you miss me?"
"No, maybe I should just go back inside."
"Lore, are you flustered?"
"I'm going inside."
I scoop her up in my arms and carry her into the bathroom in the house. I set her down on the counter and tossed her a towel. She begins to dry her hair. I grab a towel for myself and begin to dry off. When I finished I look at her.
I am trying to comprehend how Lorelei is mine, and I am hers.
"What are you thinking about?" Lorelei asks me in a soft voice.
"You."
A small smile spreads across her lips. A smile reserved for me and only me. It's my favorite smile of hers. I needed her. I pressed my lips against hers intimately.
Her legs wrapped around my waist and pulled me closer to her. I wrapped my arms around her trying to get even closer. Her hands get lost in my wet hair and she tugs it backward. I moan a little as she nibbles at my neck.
"I love you." I said quietly as she continues her attack on my neck.
My hand cups her neck softly as the other one explores her back.
"I love you too. Husband." She smiles against my neck.
I don't know what it was but I'm thinking it was the way she called me husband and I suddenly wanted her so badly I couldn't stand it. I wrapped my arms around her waist and carried her as fast as I could into our bedroom.
I tossed her onto the bed and she smirked in the darkness. I climbed on the bed and began kissing her more intensely. My fingers found the clip of her bra and swiftly removed it from her body.
She held onto my back so tightly her fingernails began to dig into my back but it didn't hurt me. I could barely feel it. Her breathing got more rapid and shallow. We continued undressing each other. Then I moved myself.
When I woke up again I felt groggy. Like I had slept for way to long. Lorelei was dozing beside me. Even though it was dark, I could see Lorelei's green eyes the moment she opened them.
"Hello, husband." She smiles.
I could see every single one of her white teeth in the smile she gave me.
"Hello, my wife."
"Well that was different." She was still smiling so I knew it was a good different.
I layed back down on my pillows but I couldn't stop myself from smiling.
"Eli, are you aware that your head board is broken?"
"What?" My eyes shot open and I looked up at where the headboard was.
Or well should have been.
