We were all gathered in America's giant apartment discussing the formations of a plan. We needed to get Lorelei and Elijah out of the Bright Prison.
In the room we had assembled the colony's most celebrated heroes. We had Princeps America, Advisor Alaina, Dr Faed, Councilman/General Silas, Senator Willow, Dr Sage, Dr Tori, Indiana and a bunch of war heros I had never met before. We were considered to be the saviors of the people. The only two people who had more influence than the rest of us combined were Lorelei and Elijah and they were who we were on a mission to save.
America sat down on her couch and faced the rest of us. Her face was grave and solemn. Eden and Luna Rose had been banished to their rooms for this meeting. Indiana was afraid it would have been to obsetting for them since they were only children.
Indiana was sitting on the opposite side of the room and refused to meet my eyes. His eyes were trained on America the entire time. Before speaking America glanced at her second in command, Alaina, before proceeding. Alaina gave America a slight nod of her head and America proceeded.
"For many of you who were not present in the councilroom, I have some terrible news for you." America paused.
All of the non-council members looked up at America as she continued.
"During that meeting the Extorians tried to pin a pandemic on us however it didn't work. I hate to admit it but I lost control and declared war on the Bright Colony."
The members in the council didn't say anything because none of this was news to us. However the people who weren't on the council looked outraged.
"America! What made you think it was okay to declare war on another colony without alerting the senate first?" Willow stood up, clearly outraged.
"Apologies, my dear Willow, it was a mistake."
"Yes, America, it was a mistake that will cost us lives." A war hero stood up.
I had never talked to this particular person before. I generally don't talk to famous people, even though I am considered one. Although I had never talked to him I knew his name. It was Desmond. He was well known for saving his entire battalion when he was 19. He was stationed on the opposite end of the war so I hadn't really known him until after the war was over.
We had separated the war into two parts. The Sun's Oasis front and the central front. Lorelei, Elijah and Indiana were stationed on the Sun's Oasis front which put them a lot closer to home than many other soldiers.
Desmond, on the other hand was stationed on the Central front. Conditions down there were far more terrible than the one we were enduring. Anyway after he saved his battalion he was promoted to Commander and became the second youngest Commander in our military, second only to Lorelei.
"I understand Commander, however it was bound to happen sooner or later. The Extorians were out for blood. They already tried to start a war but couldn't because they had to have their proof verified."
Desmond looked pissed, and something else. I couldn't put my finger on it.
"I agree with Desmond. Can't we just go back to the council and tell them we made a mistake?" Dr Tori asked.
Tori was a sweet girl but stars did she know nothing about politics.
In politics you have to prove your worth by being the strongest country out there. You also have to prove you are smart and cunning and admitting you made a mistake is a big no-no. If we did that we might as well be waving a big flag that said "Look over here! Look at this week colony just sitting here that you can take advantage of". We did not need yet another colony trying to take control over us.
"How do we get Lorelei and Elijah out?" Senator Willow asked.
"I'm glad you asked, Willow." America smiled.
Willow didn't look back at America, instead she was looking at Alaina, wishing she wasn't here.
"Now, the Bright's main weapon is derived from electrical pulses that they can control to determine how deadly they want to shoot the gun.
The Electrical engineers have concoughted an electrical bomb that can disrupt the frequencies in the guns rendering them useless. Then we can break into the building and take them quietly." America explained.
Well, that was quite the cry from the last time the Brights made us mad at them.
"Excuse me but if we are in another war, why don't we just nuke them again?" Faed asked sarcastically.
"Because the Council outlawed Atomic Bombs. Geez, keep up Dr Faed." America sighed.
Actually the Council wasn't the one who banned Atomic Bombs. It was the Senate. They didn't even try to get Atomic Bombs banned from everyone, they just banned America from having any. After that law passed they bribed the council into telling America that Atomic Bombs were banned from everyone.
Alaina was zoned out sitting next to America so when America started talking to her she didn't respond.
"Excuse me, Alaina. Please keep your daydreaming of Willow outside of this meeting." America waved a hand in Alaina's face.
"Sorry ma'am," Alaina snapped to attention, "What were you saying?"
"I was asking you if you wanted to get out into the field and scout out the Bright's building."
"Um, I guess so." Alaina stammered.
I could tell she was really worried to get out into the fields. She had never directly been in the war. Well I guess she was apart of the war but she had never fought in it.
Desmond and the other military members rolled their eyes at her response.
"I'm just kidding, I asked you if you were up to being in charge of planning out our moves, I know you have been studying warfare and battle strategy."
Alaina hadn't meant to be loud about her sigh in relief but I had heard it and laughed a little to myself. I could tell the military officials had thought she was a coward but even though this was the second war she had been involved with she really hadn't had much experience with real warfare.
"Yes! Thank you ma'am." Alaina saluted.
Indiana was sitting in his chair trying not to be involved with the meeting and America then decided to make him involved.
"Indiana, I know you are an electrical engineer however that isn't a far cry from warfare engineer now is it?" America asked.
It is. It's a far cry from a warfare engineer.
"I guess not ma'am." Indiana responded.
"Great, when you aren't fighting battles I want you designing weapons and testing them."
"Oh lord." I mutter to myself.
"Alivia!" America called out my name.
Great, what now.
"The Extorians are willing to fight dirty this time round. I want you, Dr Sage, Dr Tori and Dr Faed working on a biological weapon, just incase."
Oh stars, I'm going to be cooped up in a lab with them again. This was going to be fun. America went around the room assigning people new jobs.
All except for the military, some of them even got promoted. Desmond, who was kind of pissed about it, did not get promoted.
"Hey America," I called out to her as we were getting ready to leave.
"Yes Representative Alivia."
"What is Lorelei going to be when she gets back? Surely we don't need an astronomer in the war." I scoffed.
"Her old job will be waiting for her if she chooses to accept it, if she doesn't wish to accept it she can probably help plan out aerial strikes."
Why does she get the fun job?"
