The day of my nana's funeral, the sky was crying with us.
I cried and cried and begged God to bring her back.
I believed in Him. I believed in Him a lot. And I loved Him. But a lot of the times I was wandering if He loved me.
When I was little He left me without a family at a cold heartless orphanage. When I was five I escaped. I was alone for a long time. And now that I found nana, even though she's not actually family she took care of me like I was her own, He took her away from me.
God is selfish.
He knew what a great person nana is but He wanted her for Himself, besides Him. He doesn't care about me.
The last moments of her life I didn't see her. My eyes were blurry from crying and I couldn't look at her.
I just heard her last words.
"Please, doctor. Take care of my child. Find someone to take care of her. Please, don't let her collect trash for the rest of her life. She's young and beautiful. She doesn't deserve it. Put her in a good house with good people and food on the table every day. Please"
And the doctor did.
A few days later, a man appeared at my door.
"Josephine?" he said. I nodded.
He took me to his home. He said he wanted to help a poor little girl like me. He said that God sent him to protect me and it was he right to do.
I didn't have a choice. My nana wanted to.
I packed my few things and left. I said bye to Max and Bella. Max hugged me so hard. He hadn't done that in years. His arms around me were really strong. He caressed my hair and whispered to me that I should be strong and everything was going to be better from now on.
Bella smiled at me and said that after I was settled in I should go back and visit them. I promised them.
The house I was met this when we reached our destination was huge. Propably bigger that our local church.
The thought about my new life was exciting but I also wanted to go back to were I belonged. At the trash. I felt so uneasy.
Mr. Tiffin, the man who owned the house, opened the door for me with a smile and all I could notice was the chandelier on the ceiling. Everything was beautiful and so... clean.
I started jumping up and down in excitment. This was my new home.
We entered the living room only to be met with two ladies sitting on the couch drinking something that looked like warm tea.
"Melissa, Martha... this is Josephine. Josephine this is my wife Martha and our friend Melissa"
They both looked at me up and down and Melissa made a disgusted face.
"Hello, miss" Martha said. "Are you lost?" She asked.
"Hi" I waved at her with enthusiasm. "No, your hubby brought me here" I laughed.
"Martha, she's going to be staying with us. At this house. Say Hi to your new daughter"
As soon as Mr Tiffin said those words both of the cups that the ladies were holding were dropped to the floor just like their jaws.
I crossed my arms looking at the hot mess on the floor. "Well, that's just such a waste of good tea" I said in dissaproval.
"George!" Martha said standing up. "You can't be serious! Don't you think you should have talked to me about it before bringing her here?" she exclaimed.
