JO
The first thing I saw when I opened my eyes again was Hero on top of me slapping slightly my cheeks.
"Oh, thank God! You are okay" he sighed in relief.
He put his hands under my arms to lift me up when someone stopped him.
"Let me help" the guy said.
The guy. The guy who claimed was my father.
Oh God.
"No" Hero glared at him rejecting his offer. "You've done quite enough"
The he lifted me on my feet and put my arm over his shoulders to hold me in place.
"Sweety are you okay?" Martha asked me. I couldn't respond yet. I was so confused with everything.
"This must be a lot on her. Let's just let her breathe for a second" George said.
I could still feel Hero's hands around my waist as his thumb rubbed slightly on my skin to calm me down.
"My sweet Josephine. How can you not remember us?" The woman that claimed was my mother cried.
I almost fainted again.
What the hell was happening?
I turned my gaze to Hero.
"Please get me out of here" I whispered to him.
He gulped slightly but nodded.
"I think I'm going to take Jo upstairs for a nap. I don't think she's in a good state to have a conversation right now" Hero said and I thanked him in my head.
"Jo?" the woman said. I refused to call her my mother. "Your boyfriend has already given you a nickname. What a lovely couple you are" she cooed and Hero almost chocked next to me. I would have started coughing too if I wasn't almost passed out.
George laughed. "They aren't a couple. Hero is like a big brother to Josephine. They are practically siblings anyway"
Siblings my butt.
Siblings don't make out like we did in the shower a couple of minutes ago.
As we were walking up the stairs, Hero place his hand under my knees and lifted me bridal style.
We entered my room, he placed me on the bed and then closed quietly the door.
"How are you feeling?" He asked me. I could sense the sympathy on the tone of his voice.
"It's just unbelievable" I said and he nodded. "They left me when I was five, Hero. They left me in a freaking trash can. How can they suddenly be back? They can't do this to me. Not now that I'm finally happy"
His eyebrows rose together and I could see he was hurting with me.
He came and sat on the bed next to me. "I know, baby. It must be tough" he said.
The pad of his fingers rubbed slightly my cheek before pulling away.
I lowered my head.
"You are actually happy here?" He asked hesitanly.
I nodded. "I'm finally going to school, I have a real big family with a lot of siblings, friends and..." I paused. "I have you"
"Jo..."
"I love you, Hero" I said slowly.
He bit his lip looking at me for a second. "You do?" he chuckled.
