Around two weeks passed and the private teacher Mr Tiffin brought for me and I had a really big progress. He said I was catching up really quick and I could go to real school in no time. I now knew how to write and read. I could recite poems and do equations the professional way and not the street way, as he said.

Titan has gone back to college and Hero and Mercy were at school most of the day so the house was pretty quiet all the time. Even when they were home, Hero would just ran to his room and not talk to anyone until dinner. Mercy and I hang out frequently. We would watch DVDs almost every night or we would go out for walks and talk about stuff. Mercy was so different from Max and Bella. She was smart and knew things that I didn't. She talked about how she was really affraid to fall in love. She kept saying that she wants to be independant and her own self when she's older and she doesn't want to be tied down to a boy.

I told her about the prince of my dreams -without of course telling her that the guy is her literal brother- and she wished me to meet him someday and have my happy ending.

If only she knew that this would never ever happen.

One night after I had completed my homework I heard Angela's voice calling me.

"Josephine! There is a letter for you"

I immediately ran down the stairs. I had been waiting for this.

I could finally read it.

I ran up to my room and opened the letter full of excitement.

Hey, beautiful.

I can't see you but I know you are. Like always.

Bella and I were so excited to get your letter. I can't believe you can write and read now. My mind is blown.

Guess I don't have to read you my letters now, like I always did. But I know you secretly loved it though.

I did.

I want to see you so bad. I miss you, beautiful. I miss seeing you everyday before going to work. I miss your hugs. I miss your smile, your positivity.

I'm glad everything is okay now. Your new family better treat your right, because they will have to do with me.

I laughed at that.

Don't forget us please. Oh Bella says hi and that she can't wait to catch up with you about everything.

When can I see you? Will you come to visit us? I can't stand not being around you any longer. I wanted to send you flowers but Bella said no.

Write back soon.

I love you, always. (Bella loves you too, whatever)

Max.

When I finished reading the letter, I sighed deeply falling back to my bed and holding the letter to my heart.

Max always used to send me letters even though I could never read them. His mum was smart so she taught Bella and Max how to read and write from a yound age, even though they didn't go to school and had to work to make some money for their family.

I had missed those dorks so much. I started squeeling reading the letter again and again. I started jumping around on my bedroom. I was so excited.

First of all, I could finally read Max's words, that he wrote to me personally. This meant so much to me.

Second of all, I missed them and wanted to see them as soon as possible.

As I was jumping around my door suddenly flew open.

"Can you stop screaming? I have a headache!" Hero groaned letting his head fall back. He was clearly hangover again.

"Can you just knock the next time? I could have been naked!" I yelled.

"So?"

I slapped his arm.

"Why are you so happy after all?" He asked. I was kind of surprised that he was making small talk with me. After our weird encounter in his room we only said hi and bye to each other, bearly agknoleging each other's presence.

"I can read!" I said excited "This!" And threw the letter at his hands.

He caught it and started reading it as I fell on my bed again looking at the ceiling dreamily.

"Who is Max?" He asked, his eyes still on the paper.

"A friend." I answered casually.

He looked at me weirdly and then he started reading the letter again.

"Does he know this?" He asked when he finished reading it. "I mean this is clearly a love letter. The only thing missing is the weird aroma," he pointed out.

"No!" I said offended grabbing the letter from his hands. "Max and I are only friends. Best friends. This is our thing. Since when I was eight or so he used to write me letters and poems and then he read them to me because I didn't know how. He is just a sweetheart who tried to make me feel comfortable. No other feelings. You're being silly" I laughed it off.

"I don't think I am. The dude sounds pretty serious," Hero said. "And creepy. How old is he? Thirty?"

"He's just fifteen"

His eyes widened.

"He's a fucking kid!" He exclaimed.

"Woah calm down! You're just two years older than him. Big deal" I rolled my eyes.

"Whatever"

I sat on the bed looking at the letter again.

"I love reading. But I miss Max reading them to me." Then I threw him the letter again. "Read it to me" I demanded.

"No. That's so stupid"

"Please" I pleaded and he sighed.

"Okay but it's because I have nothing else to do. Don't think we're friends now or something" he said sitting on the bed next me.

I don't want us to be friends anyway.

"Hey beautiful" Hero started reading and a mockingly high voice. "I can't see you but I know you are. Like always"

"Read like normal human being, not like you have just shallowed helium" I scolded him.

He cleared his throat and started reading.

"Hey beautiful" he looked at me. "I can't see you but I know you are. Like always" he kept reading and reading.

"I want to see you so bad. I miss you, beautiful. I miss seeing you everyday before going to work. I miss your hugs. I miss your smile, your positivity." He stopped. I stopped.

Hearing those words coming from his mouth were like heaven to my ears. Sweet little music that I wanted to hear all the time. But I had to remind myself that those weren't his words.

I unitentionally smiled. Hero's eyes fell to the movement.

Then he just stared at me. And I back at him. His hand slowly moved to touch my cheek.

"Your smile..." he whispered. And he came closer. And so did I. And I kept smiling. But he looked so serious, his eyes never leaving my mouth.

I could smell him. That heavenly smell. I was almost drown to it. I literally wanted to stick my face to his neck and just inhale as much as I could.

But then he pulled away and cleared his throat and kept reading. He read fast and when he finished, he threw the letter on the bed and stormed out of the door without a second word.
