It was a relaxed summers morning and the curtains added an orange glow to the morning light. Tangled up in Joe's arms, Dianne woke up suddenly with every thought in high definition. Her eyes took in every ray of light as she realised what day it was. Joe and her parents were meeting for the first time.

Dianne was sat up in bed, deep breathing just looking into space. Joe stirred and woke up, putting his arm around his girlfriend.

"Why are you awake so early Little One?" he asked.

"Oh Joey, i'm so nervous for our parents to meet. What if they don't like each other!" She said panicking.

"I'm sure they will Sweetheart, believe me."

They got up out of bed and made their way downstairs towards the kitchen.

"What do you want to eat for breakfast Dot?"

"I'm not hungry, my tummy is so wobbly." She said clutching her stomach.

"Awh Gorgeous come here" He said. Joe put his arms around his Girlfriend in hope of calming her down slightly. He couldn't understand why she was so nervous for their parents to meet, it just didn't work out.

Suddenly, Joe could hear a faint sob into his chest by Dianne.

"Now then there is something you're not telling me, come and sit down and talk to me Little One"

They sat down on the couch and Dianne snuggled into Joe. She took a deep breathe.

"The reason why I am so nervous is because every single time my parents have met my boyfriends parents they've told me that I shouldn't be with him and basically force me to end it with him. Joey what if that happens today, what if they make us break up" She said putting her head into her hands, crying again.

"Hey hey, Sweetheart. That's not going to happen though, I will stay with you no matter what your parents say."

Joe eventually managed to get Dianne to calm down and she had obviously had a restless night as she fell asleep on his shoulder.

"Gorgeous girl." Joe said, gently shaking Dianne to wake her up. "It's time to wake up and get ready now" He said.

Her eyes fluttered open and she stretched, almost hitting Joe in the face. Without saying anything the two of them got up and head to the bedroom to get changed for dinner.

As they were getting ready, Joe's phone lit up with a text. He picked up his phone reading the message from his mum.

"Who was that?" Dianne asked.

"Oh it was just my mum asking what time we were meeting again." He replied. "Anyway, how are you feeling now Dot? Any better?"

"I mean, I am still feeling scared but I know that i've got you no matter what and no one can change that."

They were soon ready to go and headed down the lift to meet the uber. 15 minutes later they arrived.

Joe and Dianne were waking down the path to the restaurant holding hands.

"Are you sure you're ok?" Joe whispered as they were arriving.

Dianne nodded.

"You sure Dot?"

She let out an awkward smile and nodded again focusing on where she wanted to sit.

Not long later, Joe's mum and dad arrived. Dianne wasn't surprised her parents were late, they were late to everything.

"We'll go order some drinks" Joe said to his parents, wanting an excuse to check up on Dianne again alone.

Joe stood up and nodded to Dianne, a way of telling her to go with him. She grabbed onto Joe's hand and he pulled her up.

As they walked away from the table towards the bar, Dianne's parents arrived. Dianne turned around to the voice of her parents that she recognised very well.

"Go say hi." Joe said. She walked over to her parents greeting them and telling them where they were sat. Not long after going back to where Joe was stood. They watched from a distance their parents meeting and it made Dianne's heart flutter.

"You alright?" Joe asked.

"Yeah, i'm fine" She replied smiling.

"Dotty I think it's all going to be just fine. I love you!" He said placing a kiss on her lips.

"I love you too Joseph."
