It was December 6th 2026 and Joe, Dianne and their 6 year old daughter Millie were getting ready to start their new life down under in Australia. Millie had her last day of a school yesterday and was feeling quite emotional about it all.
To soak up last minute grandma time she was being babysat by Tracey whilst Joe and Dianne both packed up their house into boxes.
Dianne and Joe were hosting a leaving party for themselves at Amy's house two days before they left. They had invited all of the strictly professional dancers and most of the celebs from previous years.
As soon as they arrived to set up Dianne broke down into her best friends arms.
"Come here Di" Amy cooed.
"Sorry, i've been trying to hold it in for Millie. It- it's just th-that I am going to mi-miss you so much." She sobbed, Joe stroking her back.
"Hey hey, don't be sorry, It's ok to cry." Amy said, forcing back her tears.
Dianne soon calmed down and they set up for the party. Not long later, the guests started to arrive and the dancing began.
Joe didn't feel much emotion until it was time for him and Dianne to give a speech. He tapped his knife on the side of his glass.
"Hi- can I please have everyone's attention? Dianne and I would like to say something." Joe started.
"So, obviously you're all here today because as you know, myself, Dianne and Millie are moving away. Knowing most of you from strictly for the past 8 years has been the most fantastic 8 years of my life. Every single one of you have made me a more complete and well- rounded person. You're all like a second family to me. We've been through many many ups and also a few downs but I will really miss you all although it's not really goodbye because i'm going to keep in touch with you all... whether you like it or not!"
Many people were now crying, Amy and Janette were sobbing.
"Right, I am going to attempt this but i'm not sure how far i'll get without crying" Dianne said.
"Wow, where do I begin? Honestly, since I joined strictly my life changed massively. When I joined along with my best friends Amy and Nadyia you were all so welcoming and to think that that was 9 years ago is crazy! I can't tell you how difficult it is to describe how much I will miss you all, when this journey began i never thought i'd become this connected to such a warm group of people. T-t-tomorrow I will wake up with my new life ahead of me but I will be empty of your company. You have all helped me through such difficult times, Amy thank you for making me realise that I am good enough." She now had tears rolling down her face. "I also want to mention Janette who has been there for me since the beginning no matter what kind of a day I was having." She wiped her tears and took a deep breathe. "Anyway, to see you all here in front of me, for the very last time is an image I will treasure forever. So... until next time we gather, my very dear friends, farewell for now."
Dianne embraced Joe into a hug and cried like she'd never cried before. It was hard for her to get her head around the fact that she may not see her best friends for years. She then moved from Joe to Amy.
"Listen Amy, I just want to say th-thank you for absolutely everything. You're my best friend and you've done so much for me. This isn't the end is it?" Dianne asked as Amy wipes away the tears from Dianne's blotchy face.
"No of course not sweetie. I'll see you again. This isn't goodbye it's just see you later."
Dianne cried more, hugged more people and eventually everything got too much for her and she had to leave the room.
"Dotty, are you ok?" Joe asked knocking on Amy's bedroom door.
The bedroom door opened and he saw his distraught girlfriend, head in hands leaning against the wall.
"Hey hey, come on now baby. We can get through this." he said sitting down next to her.
She rested her head on his shoulder, unable to speak any words out. They both just sat there entangled in each other's arms.
The long emotional night tired both Joe and Dianne out and as soon as they got home they said thanks to Joe's mum for babysitting and they crashed.

So this is it then sweetheart. Let me know when you arrive safely" Tracey said.
The following morning, everyone had made their way to the airport to say goodbye to Joe, Dianne and Millie.
"Come here, little one." Joe's dad said to holding his arms out wide for one last hug from his granddaughter. "Be a very good girl, work hard, and have the most amazing time." He stroked down her gorgeous brown curls. "I love you Millie."
"I love you too."
Tracey bent down and pulled Millie into a tight hug, covering her in kisses. "I hope you have an amazing time pretty girl. I love you lots and lots and remember to call me." Tracey then turned to Joe and Dianne and pulled them both into a hug. "Look after yourselfs ok, and call me if you need anything. Night or day." She started to tear up and as did Joe and Dianne.
"We will don't worry" Joe said wiping away his tears.
Joe, Dianne and Millie all said their goodbyes to Joe's family and Millie was soon crying again. They calmed her down and Joe picked her up as they made their way to security.
"Ok, next stop Australia."
This was actually happening.
