Thankyou to kyonni who suggested the 2nd song in this chapter... music is meant to be a big part of this story so it gets quite difficult to choose songs so I appreciate all and any suggestions 🥰

First song is called Black Rose by Clare Bowen
Second is If I could fly by 1D (you're welcome any 1D fans out there)

This is very much a connecting chapter to eventually get all the characters to where they need to be, hope you enjoy it 💜

Single chords echoed around the empty flat, resonating off the walls and flowing through the sandy-brown haired singer as he pushed down on the dusty keys of the piano.

Declan had played a little bit of keyboard at the Tyne side Irish centre, so he knew enough to put together a few verses but it was nothing complex. Besides his thoughts were all mixed, the song hardly made sense to him because his feelings didn't. He was angry at Jason and a little bit at Ant but most of all he felt sad, guilty, vulnerable and completely helpless.

It felt like everyone in his life had eventually grown sick of him and kicked him out, he started wondering if it was even possible for someone to love him. His parents couldn't do it... His first love couldn't do it... Ant ... Ant tried... but even he couldn't stand him long enough. All the people in his life eventually kicked him out, gave him nothing but pain and all those emotions mashed into the lyrics of his songs to give him something that sounded beautiful on the outside but was ugly when you looked too close.

So he sung them, with his heart in his throat feeling the storm within him come out through his lips and tumbled about the room.

"I can see your eyes
Staring into mine,
But it's a battle field
And you're on the other side,
You can throw your words
sharper than a knife
And leave me cold in another house on fire

I lay low... lay low and watch the bridges burn
I lay low... lay low, what more could I have done?"

Now you only bring black roses
And they crumble into dust when their held
Now you only bring black rose
Under your spell

Dec moved his nimble fingers down to lower end of the keyboard, feeling the deep note hit deep in his chest and strike at the core of his heart. His voice caught in his throat, choking him with emotion and ending anymore sound from him.

Declan hung his head and blinked back the tears, his music didn't sound right... it didn't feel right... nothing felt right anymore. It was like his creativity was tainted, before he met Ant he sang about wanting Someone like Ant and once he'd found him he sang about never wanting to lose him. Now he'd lost him his music sounded how he felt.

Broken.

"Oh my god I'm crying!" The singer's head snapped up to the source of the squeal, wincing a little at being caught when he felt so weak.

Tamsin walked in beneath Bears arm, both of them looking very smart after their date night although Bear kinda still looked like a bouncer all in black. Absently Declan wondered if Bear was actually real name but didn't get to dwell on it for long.

"Will you play us a song Dec?" Bear enquired deeply, sitting down on the sofa looking at Dec and pulling his boyfriend onto his lap.

"Oh... I don't know... I don't really play the piano."

"Well you did just then and it was amasing... Please Dec!"

"I dunno Tam..."

"Pleaaasseee! It would really make our date!" Dec let out a small whine before reluctantly spinning back in front of the white and black keys.
