Also I've made the selection process one day because it's fiction so I can :)

The Selection day came around slowly for Dec, he'd had hardly any contact with Anth since he'd departed that Tuesday morning which worried him a little, his anxiety clouding his proper judgement; he'd thought he and Ant were getting on well! Was it something Simon had said? Had he done something wrong? Had ant had his fun and wanted to cease all contact? He wouldn't be the first that's for sure.

After entering the building, the young singer had been quickly herded onto a stage and spent hours going back and forth, singing different songs and different styles. He'd only caught glimpses of the shows presenter but he seemed to either be too caught up with his work to look at Dec or turn away when they'd made eye contact.

Declan sat quietly backstage on a big black sound box, swinging his legs that couldn't quite touch the floor to the rhythm of a tune stuck in his head. Waiting until he was either shoved back on stage by some impatient member of the production crew or told he could go to the accommodation. Many of the other contestants were laughing and chatting with each other, some were just looking down at their opponents like a lion stalking its prey. Dec however, kept to himself, just the way he liked it, he had nothing in common with them and was much more interested in watching Ant who was stood with his back to Dec talking with a crew member casually, he'd figured he was definitely giving him the silent treatment and that thought hurt... a lot.

Dec looked up, trying to catch Ants eye for just a hint of acknowledgement but none came, the presenter walked straight ahead, past Dec, before ordering a runner to get him a coffee. The smaller Geordie bowed his head, tears welling up in his blue-green eyes. Suffering the familiar feeling of his heart breaking in his chest.

Flash back - Newcastle 4 years ago
Declan woke up hearing the front door open. He realised quickly it must be his boyfriend, Jason coming home. They'd had an argument that morning, but it was Dec's fault of course, he was careless and dropped one of Jason mugs, it had made the older boy angry and caused him to lash out and hit Dec. It hadn't been the first time that he'd been violent but at that point in time Dec was so desperate to feel love again he had believed it was his fault, that he was difficult to put up with, that's why his parents had been so keen to get rid of him and that Jason loved him as much as Dec loved Jason.

To try and redeem himself for making Jason lose his temper Dec had spent the entire day tiding Jason flat, once he'd finished he'd been exhausted and went for a nap. He came to his sense fully when he heard his boyfriends deep voice call out.

"Declan? You home?"

"Whats a Declan?" A female voice giggled drunkenly, which quickly stopped Dec from calling out to replying.

"Nobody... just my roommate, doesn't look like he's in. Come on, what was that you were saying about dessert?" Jason replied seductively and Dec furrowed his eyebrows in confusion making his way to the bedroom door which lead out into the living room.

He heard the sickly giggling of that women once again followed by the sounds of quiet moaning. Dec started to panic as his crept closer to the door, unable to believe his ears. The small Geordie pushed the door open silently his heart shattering into pieces at the sight that greeted him.

The man he loved was cheating on him with some women right in front of his eyes. Dec didn't know what to do, he just stood their in silent shock, unable
to find his voice.
