A/N: This is gonna come a surprise to everyone (as it did to me) but I think this is the final chapter of Spotlights. It just came to a natural close as I wrote it. I felt what the characters needed was not what I wanted and I couldn't ignore that so went with the flow.

Thankyou to everyone who has supported me through this story and I hope you enjoy this final chapter ❤️

"Sir? We're here." Anthony jumped out of his dreamless sleep, blinking up at his driver with dull, sunken eyes and the permanent frown which had been etched onto his features for the past two weeks. He looked around, scoping out his surroundings before he remembered where he was and why. The presenter sighed and sat up in the expensive leather car seat.

"Give us a minute Ian."

He'd barely slept that night, too busy stressing, his heart was working on over drive while his mind felt like it was shutting down from all the confusion. It occurred to him, whilst splashing cold water on his face at 3 in the morning, that he had no idea what was going on. He'd accused Dec of tricking him and yet, from what he's heard, Dec never went to stay with Jason. If Declan really had the 5 million he'd never need to do this show. Maybe it was just his way of tormenting the presenter but every bone in Ants body protested against that, not even Dec could scoop that low surely. What struck Anthony as strange however, was that above all he, himself was scared. He was scared he'd made a mistake, even though all the evidence stacked against Dec, he was scared that when he threw Declan out he'd been wrong to do so. If he saw Dec today, and he wasn't okay, If he was in as much pain as him, Ant had no idea how he would react, he felt sick just thinking about it.

Ant's body aches to forgot everything that happened, he no longer cared if Dec loved him. No longer cared if Dec had cheated on him. He just needed to feel him again, needed him close, needed to feel him alive and well in his arms.

Bitterly, the presenter banged his head against the leather headrest and let out a humourless scoff of laugher. Now he was worried if Dec was okay, he really was pathetic. Every conflicting emotion was like a tug at his heart, like two hands had clawed at the septum and were both pulling a piece of the organ towards them while Ants heart tore in two. Now he didn't even understand what he felt, did he still love Dec? Yes. But was he still angry at himself about that? Was he still mad at him for all the betrayal? Was he scared that he'd be laughed at? Irrationally, , after everything he'd gone through he knew that would break him completely, trusting someone to open up his heart and then be laughed at by the same person who broke it.

The Geordie slammed his tightly clenched fist down on the seat, not registering the way his driver jumped slightly and eyed Ant through the rear view mirror.

Ant took a few calming deep breaths, trying to relax before he went in there. He tried everything, tried to tell himself it didn't matter, tried to remember when being around Dec was easy and natural, even tried to convince himself he probably won't even see him. Inevitably, nothing worked and all he felt was a deep yearning in his chest, a need to see Declan.

The presenters hand was drawn to his breast pocket where he pulled out his silver hip flask and took a swing. Cringing at the burn as it traveled down his throat. Ant closed his eyes and sat back, feeling the toxic liquid flow through his veins until it calmed his rapidly beating heart. He'd have a smoke if he was sure he wouldn't get caught by the press but the swarms of their flashing lights outside his the car gave him no indication he'd be left alone today.
