The early December afternoon triggered mother nature's harp strings on the chillier weather. The wind that blew through the stone corridors of the castle blew out the torches that were hung on the wall. The teachers ran around on their breaks trying to put eternal flames back up after the warm summer dried them out. Students wore scarves all throughout the day, some were even using their crocheting skills to accommodate for others who were chilly.
Virgil had made Patton a sky blue scarf, he was tired of the honey bee, summer like scarf he always wore.
"Virge, you could make a business out of this! House scarves are so out of style with this!" Patton said. Virgil gave him a small smirk.
"I'm glad that you like it Pat." Virgil said with a warm tone. Roman scoffed to the side, Logan was the only one who noticed.
"You all right Roman?" Logan asked with concern.
"Yeah, I'm fine." He said. Virgil looked to Logan worryingly.
"I can make you a scarf too, if you'd like." Virgil offered.
"No, I have a scarf with the colors I'd want anyway Virgil." Roman said. Virgil payed his chin in his arms on the desk and looked up at Patton and Roman in front of him.
"I can make a better one, one that doesn't rip apart." Virgil muttered. Roman shot him a quick glare of confusion before turning back to Patton.
"It suits you well, Patton." Logan said with butterflies flying high in his stomach. Patton blushed a soft rose color.
"Thank you, Logan," He said quietly. Virgil looked between them, rising his smirk in his arms. Roman smiled to himself at the interaction, his mind overrun with what he thought Virgil would have reacted with.
"You two lovebirds get along very well." Roman said. Logan and Patton looked at each other in shock.
"What?" Logan asked in surprise. Roman held his hands up defensively.
"What? You guys are so invested in one another, it's adorable!" Roman said. Virgil looked up at him from the desk with a furrowed brow.
"The same could be said about you and Virgil, but I think you are mistaken. Patton and I aren't in that type of relationship." Logan informed.
"Virgil and I? That's funny, no you two are really funny. Aren't you two together now or have I been misinterpreting?" Roman asked. Virgil felt his heart jolt, as if it were hit with a four by four by a major league baseball player. He his is red cheeks and sad gaze in his arms. Patton looked at him with empathy, feeling the same pit in his stomach form.
"Nothing of the sort has taken place. I think you are misinterpreting indeed Roman, my feelings towards Patton are-" "Mister Sanders, Mister Spier, is there a political debate that I must be informed about or can we continue our lesson on patronuses in peace?" The teacher chided in annoyance.
Logan sat straight up in his seat in response, as if he were hooked onto a wall. Roman sat in frustration. The feeling had begun to settle as his constant emotion in the last weeks. Virgil tried to crack his walls once more, but Roman just kept building them up and up, higher in the sky every time Virgil attempted. He gave up, trusting time with Roman's case that they both knew only grew worse as the days walked by. He resorted to an old coping mechanism, crocheting. He used to crochet in an effort to control his powers in order not to have another 'incident'. Roman's temper was beginning to mirror Deceit's in those days, something Virgil trusted would end, especially from the expressions Patton and Logan shared with one another in reaction to Roman's un-pre-thought words entered the atmosphere.
