Virgil walked into Transfiguration the next morning with extra eye shadow on his right eye. He walked past Deceit and Remus, marching fast towards Roman in their front couplet of seats without looking at the dynamic duo.
"Yeah, I want to take a tie from Oliver in Gryffindor, maybe it'll make me feel whole again" Roman whispered to Patton. Patton looked worryingly to Roman, and then to Virgil, whose brow furrowed as he quickly sat down and took out his books. Roman raised his eyebrow at him.
"What makes you so energetic this morning, it's as if you blinked at 182 miles per hour and you showed up!" Roman said. Virgil plopped in his seat and looked at Roman with a confused gaze.
"What?" He asked.
"I don't know, this one really didn't work, huh?" He asked. Virgil shook his head.
"Why do you have so much eyeshadow on?" Roman asked. Virgil raised hi hand to reach up and touch the dark power that he wiped halfway down his cheek.
"Oh, I-I was just trying something different." He said. Roman raised his eyebrow.
"Sure, anyway, it looks surprisingly good." He said. Virgil let out a subtle sigh of relief and gave the prince-like boy a smirk.
"Thanks Princey." Virgil said. Roman blushed.
"Oh, I'm too improper and naïve to be a prince." He said. Virgil looked at him as if he were serious.
"Please Princey, you're better than any other prince in any of those fairy tales." Virgil said.
"What?" Roman asked.
"What?" Virgil said.
"No, I meant 'what/" as in did I just hear a compliment come out of your mouth?" Roman asked with a smirk.
"I-I only said it because it was the truth." Virgil said quietly.
"Sure Hot Topic," Roman said.
"Aw, you think I'm hot," Virgil said. He then made a face of surprise." How do you know about Hot Topic?"
"Remus goes there all the time when it's summer. I've only been in there once and never again. They called me a Twinkie." He said. Virgil looked at him with wide eyes.
"Are you sure it was Twinkie?" He asked. Roman shrugged.
"But then I was called a football player and was ignored after that." He said with a shrug. Virgil looked at him with wide eyes.
"I don't think you know-" "Class, take out your parchment! We are taking notes today!" The teacher said with enthusiasm. Roman groaned dramatically, Virgil joined in softly as he held onto his navy blue quill firmly. He turned his head towards the large, oak framed window. There were thick snowflakes falling from the pink-tinted sky.
"Make sure not to stare at the snow for too long, students, we have a lot to embark on today!"

Patton and Logan sat in the courtyard alone that afternoon. The snow fell heavily around them as that sat in the windowsills, reading their potions textbooks and taking notes. It was the kind of silence one wouldn't sleep in, yet one wouldn't dare scream in. The kind of silence that allowed for silent adventure in a forest where cold air and black lace coexist. The only sound that could be heard between them were the scratching of quills on their parchment.
"I miss notebooks." Patton said quietly. Logan perked up above his writing slate.
"Me too, I miss the lines and organization." He said.
