Chapter 23: Process

Process

The group was still at Goodwin's mansion. They all were thinking and processing the information Goodwin has given them. It was a lot to take in for them, especially for Xina.

Xina stands on one of the balconies of the mansion, looking over at a garden. Xina feels the breeze blow at her as she thinks, "I still can't believe that Kalin is a Dark Signer. Could he be apart of the plan that mystery voice was saying in my vision? If so, then I must do whatever it takes to protect everyone and defeat him, even if I have to hurt him... But this mark... What does it mean? And what does the Crimson Dragon see in me that I don't?"

Yusei and Luna walk into the room that Xina was in. They see her standing on the balcony. Akiza, who was sitting on the couch, tells them, "Shes been out there for awhile now."

"She must be thinking about Kalin. I mean, I know I am. This is difficult for the both of us because he was our best friend. I don't blame her for feeling this way. She doesn't want to hurt him, and neither do I. But I don't think we have a choice anymore. If hurting him is the only way to defeat him and save everyone else, then so be it," Yusei explains to them.

Luna hums. "I do feel bad for both of you. Xina doesn't deserve this. None of us do, but I am doing this for a friend who needs my help. She needs me," Luna says, referring to Ancient Fairy Dragon.

Akiza thinks, "She's so young to be caught up in all of this..."

Xina walks into the room and heads towards the staircase to go down. As she was walking, Luna asks, "Xina, are you okay? You've been pretty quiet since we first arrived here."

Xina stops at her tracks, not looking back at the girl. The words "are you okay" echoes in her mind, making her remember something.

Flashback to roughly four years ago

Xina was captured by the last duel gang in Satellite. They take her to an abandoned building as two guys held her by her arms. She yells at them, "Let me go you imbeciles!"

"Not happening," One of them says.

Xina continued to struggle to get out of their strong grasp. She felt one of their hands travel to her lower back, making her shiver. "We can't let you go just yet," One of them cooed into her ear. This makes Xina spit in his face, causing him to let go of her while the other guy managed to get a strong hold on her so she wouldn't get away. "You bitch-" The guy spats, wiping off her spit from his face.

"Why would we let go of the bait we just caught? Don't you see? Your little gang will walk right into our trap," Another man says with a smirk.

"This is what you call a trap?" A voice says from behind them.

"Who's there?" One man shouts.

Xina smirks as she responds, "Your nightmare."

Then Kalin appears in front of them as he uses the duel disk cuffs and grabs all of the men's duel disks. Xina gets out of the two men's grip. Kalin duels them and finishes them off quickly. Soon, Kalin and Xina run out of the building once they heard Sector Security sirens.

Once they were far enough, Kalin asks, "Are you okay?"

"Yes. Thank you, Kalin. I owe you one," Xina responds, out of breath from running.

"Don't sweat it, kid. Just looking out for my friend," He reassures her as he placed a hand in her shoulder. "By the way, don't tell Yusei that you were captured," Kalin tells her.
