Yoongi let out a long tired sigh. Being a pastry chef in the summer months was always hard, sure he had aircon in the shop and the kitchen but that didn't stop him and his staff from working up a sweat when the ovens were on.
Regardless of how hot and tiring it was he loved his shop, all his hard work had paid off and his patisserie was by far the most popular in the city. The quaint old building it was located in with its unique yet elegant furnishings made it the go to place, and thanks to his patience and persistence he was now earning enough money to pay his staff a good wage and was living comfortably.
He did one last check of the kitchen and shop to check everything was ready to shut for the day with his best friend Hoseok, before shutting the blinds whilst Hoseok set the sign to closed. Locking the door behind them as they said their goodbyes.
They walked opposite ways and Yoongi raised his arms in the air for a huge stretch, taking a deep breath of the evening air, full of the smells of summer as he walked the back streets near the houses.
He loved summer, the smell of bbq's, flowers, cut grass. The sound of planes in the cloudless sky, people splashing in paddling pools, dogs barking excitedly at their owners in the garden, kids playing in the park.
He often took a cut through the open space with the park in it as it was faster than going through the whole estate to get to his house.
He didn't own a massive house. It was just a normal two bedroom house on a nice quiet estate, but he loved it all the same. He'd worked hard and it was his own little haven.
He continued to walk through the open space, his eyes drifting to the park but something unusual caught his eye. There were a lot of older kids in there, teenagers who were holding hands with adults and being pushed on swings.
"S'bit weird." He muttered to himself as he found his feet altering their course to go get a better look at the odd sight.
As he approached he noticed the teenagers were wearing colourful clothes and the girls had their hair in bunches and plaits, they looked kinda adorable. As he walked in his eyes scanned the park.
He wasn't sure what was going on but it was sweet. They all looked happy until his gaze landed on a girl alone on the swings. She wasn't with an adult and she didn't look as happy as the others so he assumed she wasn't with them.
He walked over and sat on the swing next to her and she looked over at him with wide eyes.
"Hi." Yoongi smiled as he looked at her properly for the first time. Her legs didn't touch the floor as she sat on the swing so she must have been short, she was wearing a pretty ivory lolita dress covered in bows and intricate lace, her hair was short and hung just under her chin in loose curls and waves, accentuating the black velvet choker on her neck that had a crystal heart hanging at the front, her white pristine converse on her feet.
She seemed well dressed minus all the bruises covering her legs and arms. They seemed out of place.
He was broken from his reverie when a quiet voice hit his ears.
"M'not allowed to talk to strangers."
He was a little confused by this but stood up.
"Hmm. Right okay. I'll see you later then." He smiled as he walked off towards the couple of adults who seemed to be looking after the teenagers.
"I don't mean to be abrupt but I'm naturally a little forward. What's the deal with the teenagers and that girl? " he asked gesturing to Yn on the swings and the woman who reminded him of his aunt smiled at him as she gently pushed a teenage boy dressed in dungarees with a dummy in his mouth towards another adult who took him to a seesaw.
The woman smiled at Yoongi, but he couldn't help but notice she seemed a little sad as she began to explain about the fact these teenagers were in fact littles, and they belonged to their nursery and since today was so nice they walked them to the park for outside playtime.
"Okay. And her?" He asked again nodding towards Yn. For some reason she interested him.
"Ah well, she's not quite as happy as the others. These other littles, with the exception of a few who live in the nursery waiting for adoption, have a happy family that collect them at the end of each day. Yn however... That's not the case..." The woman's voice dropped off and Yoongi could see her swallow hard.
Something didn't add up and the woman clearly couldn't talk about it, but he now knew her name was Yn.
After asking what nursery it was and where it was located he nodded and thanked her before walking home.
