The weekend was over, Monday had just started. I'd had a good night's sleep, and woke up to the sound of my alarm, a rare privilege.
Our final exams were coming up in a few weeks, and we were gonna have to study hard.
I made my way down to school, entering the classroom. It felt weird to just have a normal school day after such a long time of having various other interruptions.
However, it wasn't going to be a normal school day. Mr Aizawa held the class and after ending, directed us to Foundational Hero Studies, where All Might was waiting for us.
"Your lesson for today will be... A rescue training race through Playing Ground Gamma!" He boomed.
His voice was the kind that traveled through walls and rattled my bones. A rescue training race, huh? If it was anything like my last few races, it would be easy!
In retrospect, that should've been my first clue. My second should've been when I saw Ground Gamma, it was a rather large construction site.
"The class will be divided into seven groups of three. Use your quirks that you've been training to finish the labyrinth first. Have fun!" All Might instructed, pushing me, Sato, and Kirishima to the front.
Thinking about it, it was probably to see which of us could use brute strength best to get through the course. The teachers were assuming I'd have better control of my transformation...
The rest of the class watched from another room as the three of us were put at opposing ends in a triangular form.
The distance was identical for each of us. Should I try climbing up and running across ventilation shafts, or try to navigate the maze?
No, I couln't navigate the maze faster than they could ram through it... I looked up, and at least half of my surroundings had an upper path to parkour on.
After the countdown was finished, I ran down the path I was on, an alleyway, and climbed a ladder as quickly as I could.
From the top of the buildings, I could see my goal in the distance. I could also see dust from the cement and concrete walls being broken by Sato and Kirishima.
"Ok, gotta go..." I scanned my environment and saw another few buildings around me, one had only a fifteen foot gap.
I breathed in and psyched myself up to make the jump. I took a few steps back, and ran as fast as I could.
I ran, and jumped. I didn't make it. I fell down the gap, and teleported back to the roof. "Damn it... What do I do..."
Scratching my head, I decided to try and make myself launch across using my terminal velocity. Well, maybe not that fast, but along those sorts of lines.
If I were to jump down, head first, I could teleport back up to where I just dropped from, gaining momentum. If I were to then flip my body around so that I was going feet first, and teleport again in that position, I'd hopefully be shot up enough to make it up to the next roof.
"Okay... I'll be alright, I can teleport out of it, if it goes wrong..." I reasoned with myself. "I'll be absolutely fine. Go."
I jumped down, doing exactly as I described, and the momentum carried me up just enough to grab the roof ledge and pull myself up.
I breathed heavily, having a fear of heights didn't help me at all... But wait. What if I...
If I couldn't transform and break through walls, there was no hope of beating Sato or Kirishima. If I jumped one building at a time it would have been quicker to run through the maze.
