The police just finished telling me the story, as I stood upright, holding onto the iron gateway to our dorms. My face had gotten a bit pale, my mouth slightly open, my palms sweaty.
I... Was an orphan. I had no mother. I had no father. And I now had not one, but two mortal enemies. And those mortal enemies were working together, brains and brawn.
"You're telling me... A villain broke into Tartarus, broke another villain out, defeated three pro heroes and an army of police, yet you couldn't figure out where they went for three days?"
She lowered her head and apologised deeply. "I know how hard it is to lose a loved one to villains. It must be even harder to know it was a targeted attack. We're doing everything we can."
I grit my teeth and clenched my fists. I wanted to shout at her and tell her how useless they all were. But she wasn't the one to shout at. It wasn't her fault, and I just barely managed to hold back my anger from her.
"I'll... Make my way down as soon as possible... Thank you for telling me..." I breathed shakily as they left.
Tsu came up behind me and put a hand on my right shoulder, looking at me a little worried since she could see something had obviously affected me.
"Alex-chan? What happened...?"
It took me a while to respond.
"Kinzokuma escaped, and now my dad's dead." I said in a monotone voice as I stared blankly at the road.
She gasped and teared up a little before hugging me tightly. I didn't react as she gave me her condolences. All I could think about was how the last thing I'd said to him was that I didn't forgive him.
I eventually let go of the gate and started shuffling back into the dorms, almost like a zombie, as I had no motivation to even move. Tsu let go of me, looking at me worriedly. She knew I wasn't coping well, but didn't know how to help.
In the living space of the dorms, rubbing their eyes and yawning, was the entire class, most of them in pyjamas.
Yawning and rubbing his eye at the same time, Kaminari asked, "What's going on at this ungodly hour?"
"It's almost seven in the morning you lazy mongoloid." Todoroki said to him.
"My dad was killed by the metal villain." I answered, staring into nothingness.
There were gasps as everyone's expression turned into one of shock. No one really knew what to say, but a few moments later, Mr Aizawa came in, tired as ever.
"Alex, why were there police outside? Is there something I should know?" He said in a threatening tone.
I didn't answer, so Tsu told him for me. His expression softened and he put a hand on my shoulder. "You're excused from lessons today. I can tell the Lurkers if you would rather stay home from work studies, too."
"I'll go to them later. There's things I need to sort out at my dad's place. And villains whose necks I need to wring." I said coldly, still staring at the carpet a few meters ahead of me.
He removed his hand suddenly and stepped back. "Very well. Whatever you need to do to... Grieve."
He coughed a little uncomfortably, "Well, we're all here to support you."
It was probably difficult for him to say that, so even in my blank state of mind I nodded appreciatively. Afterwards, I walked back up to my room.
Word spread incredibly fast, just as I was getting into my dorm to get dressed, I got texts from Pony, Tetsutetsu, Ibara, Juzo, and various others of Class 1-B. Even Monoma.
