Chapter 8: Involved in romance, eh?

Everybody noticed how Mikasa changed in her attitude. Usually, she was calm, logical, caring, loving... But at some point she turned into the complete opposite of how she was.

Armin was the one who was worried the most about the girl. He was really fond of her, like a brother and sister relationship.
She now was cold, cruel, rude with everyone and she would get angry for any little thing.

Historia and Sasha also noticed the extreme change in her, from summer to October.

Armin decided to talk to Eren, Historia and Sasha set a meet-up with Mikasa at Sasha's house (Ymir was going to be the special guest).

Eren was coolly-nonchalant about everything, he had no idea of what was going on behind his back. So the blonde boy decided to speak to him calmly about the whole thing, without being too direct and getting him worried or angry for not having told him what was going on.

Since it was a Friday afternoon, they had enough time to meet up. The brown-haired boy arrived in front of Shingashina Park, where Armin was reading a book. What he was really doing, though, was think real hard on how to talk to Eren.

Eren: Yo, Armin! Have you been waiting long?

Armin: No, not really, just reading a book here.

Eren: Like always...- he said giggling.

Armin: Sooo... I have a question to ask you.

Eren: Tell me

Armin: Have you... Hm... Ever dated anyone?

Eren was a little shocked by the question. 'What the hell, we' ve known each other since we were ki- oh wait... I usually never told him anything about my love life because I felt sorry for him since he was often bullied'

Eren: Um... No...? But I've had different crushes in my life.

Armin: Wait... You mean girls you had a crush on or girls who had a crush on you?

Eren: Well... Both.

Armin: Oh, I see..

Eren: why did such question pop up in your mind, buddy?

Armin: Well...

He tried to find an excuse really quick, but he spilled the beans by accident.
Armin: Becauuuuse I was wondering how would you react if I told you M-Mikasa...

His voice slowly faded.

Eren was perplexed.

Eren: Mikasa? Mikasa what?

Armin: Mikasa likes y-you...

Eren had a strange look on his face, like someone just gave him something he didn't like that was worth a million dollars and he didn't know what to do with it.
Except that they were talking about precious love and fragile emotions, which were more important than something worth a million dollars.

Eren: Oh...

Armin jumped up: his face was white, his mouth was dry. The blonde boy said, stuttering "I-I shouldn't have s-said such th-thing!"

Eren: Say what? I'm glad about it.

Armin stopped freaking out and put his arms down.

Armin: Glad...? About what?

Eren: Well... I kinda like Mikasa too honestly...

Armin: for real? It... It doesn't look like it...

Eren: I know I don't show... But I was too nervous about being heartbroken since she's hard to get... You know?

Armin stood silent for a moment. Then the blonde boy whispered under his breath "Am I seriously the only one not involved in romantic stuff?"
