Chapter 21: The drift of 2 best friends

The girls showed up in front of the school, excited for the huge party. Well, all of them were excited except for Mikasa, who was moody because of the usual fights between her and Eren, and Annie, because she wanted to stay home and read.

The boys, instead, hung out in behind the school grounds, and found Reiner and Bertholt.

Eren: Hey, man! No costumes?

Reiner: Um, no, today I am dressed as... The coolest guy on Shingashina High School.

Connie and Armin giggled, Bertholt facepalmed really hard.

Eren: Um... Anyway... Are you guys coming? Or are you just gonna stay out here like lonely wolves all night?

Reiner: Nope, actually we just guard the whole party, hoping there won't be any sudden riot or something. But we also get to dance.

Eren then, smirked and narrowed his eyebrows.

Eren: And, who are you gonna dance with?

Reiner: Umm...

All the boys stared at him, and then all burst out laughing.

Reiner: Oh, bro, and what about the thing with Mikasa?

Eren: Ugh, I'd rather not talk about it. Sometimes we have arguments, we barely talk lately, she's been more sour than ever.

Connie: Well, she's always gloomy, so I barely see any difference.

Eren: Pff... But anyway, at least I've been getting closer with Annie, she's awesome.

Reiner and Bertholt looked at each other, and then both turned around and looked at Eren. 

Connie: Um... Are you sure it's Mikasa being toxic, or you just being really distant because you're getting attached to another girl?

Eren: That's not true, Connie. Yes, I have been getting very attached to Annie, but I haven't been ignoring Mikasa.

Armin: Well, she always comes to me for attention...

Reiner and Bertholt first looked at each other, and then looked at Armin.

Eren: Ok, instead of staring at each other, can you tell us what you think?

Reiner: Well, our conclusion is that Mikasa is clearly jealous of your relationship with Annie, which is why she gets angry every time you two talk with one another, and despite this, Mikasa always goes to Armin and he makes her happy.

Eren crossed his arms.

Eren: And what is that supposed to mean?

Reiner: Oh, you'll see.

Without realizing it, that moment created a drift between Eren and Armin's friendship.

When they started seeing more students showing up, they left. Eren wasn't feeling the spirit of the party anymore, he was just angry and confused.

Writer's note: I apologise for always taking so long to publish new chapters 🥺❤️, but lately I've been very busy with other stories I've been writing, with online school and much more I can barely explain. I hate the winter-I can't wait until spring comes.
