That evening, Layla knew her mother would be out at work so she entrusted Lily with her outfit and make-up for the night. Already regretting the day, she went with Lily to the girls' bathroom to prepare herself.

"I don't get it, Lils. I'm not tryna impress him or his stuck-up parents. What's all this for?" Layla asked, arms folded and eyebrow raised.

Lily just shook her head, placing an arm around Layla's shoulders. "Yeah, I know. But if you get his parents to like you, you'll have all the... ammunition in the world against him!" Lily beamed.

Layla thought about it for a moment before sighing. "Whatever you say. Let's just get this over with, mate. I got a stuck-up brat to teach"

After what seemed like hours, but was only fifteen minutes, Layla was ready. She wore Lily's leather jacket with a plain white shirt, ripped jeans and she kept her trainers. "Are you sure you want trainers?"

"I want them to like me, not think I'm his girlfriend. That'll do, thanks. Also, why the makeup?"

"Why not? Besides, it doesn't even look that bad anyway" Lily dismissed, placing her hands onto Layla's cheeks as though presenting a finished product.

Her makeup was very simple with a very nude look. The only colour on her face was an extremely faint purple eyeshadow, complimenting her hair. "It's a bit.. much to be honest-

"Do you want his parents to hate him?"

"Yes"

"Then sit still, look pretty"

"You know I don't do-

"Looking pretty, I know. Just this once, alright? For me?" Lily made puppy eyes at Layla and she rolled her eyes at Lily.

"Fine. Don't expect me to be nice too" Layla sighed.

On the way to William's mansion, butterflies emerged in Layla's stomach for some reason. Besides the hate she had for all the rich kids that she buried deep inside, this emotion was new to her. Was is the fact that she's going to a rich person's house? Was it because she was going to see the inside of a mansion for the first time? Was is the fact that his parents would shame her for being from the other side of the wall?

"Your face is red, or is that just the blush you decided to put on?" William commented, not turning to face her.

She continued looking out the window. "Since when do you care?" she retorted.

"This is the first time you've been to a guy's house, isn't it?"

"Like I said since when do you care?" Layla repeated, trying to hide the embarrassment on her face. No matter how much she hated to admit it, he was right. The butterflies flew more vigorously now that she realised why they were there. They will probably have to study in his room unless he has a separate room just for education.

Seeing the familiar mansion, she and William got off the bus and walked towards the front gate. He pressed the button on the small rectangular panel and a calm, female voice replied, asking who it was.

"It's William. Let me in" he ordered.

"Yes sir" the voice quickly replied before a buzzing sound came from the small machine and the gates swung open. The pair walked across the pebble path surrounded in lush, green, artificial grass. Once they got to the door, a plain, pale brunette in a black dress and white apron opened the door for them.

Layla tried her best to not let her jaw drop at the sight of his home. The walls were a calm, beige colour and the stairs curved against one wall. A bronze chandelier hung from the ceiling and the marble floor glistened in the lights. William looked down at her and smirked. "Do you like what you see?"
