As soon as Layla got back to school the next day, she told Lily and the twins everything that happened the evening before.
"... and then he had the nerve to tell me that I'm pretty! That little-
"Wait, what?!" Lily cut her off, grabbing her shoulders and shaking her slightly. "You're lying, mate!"
"I'm not, I swear! Besides, he even said thanks for teaching him and I said he wasn't that bad of a student" Layla admitted. The other three were silent. Jessie looked shocked and Chase didn't look convinced. Lily had the biggest smile stretched across her lips, her hands at her cheeks. "What?"
"Are you guys thinking what I'm thinking?" Lily gleefully asked.
"It's possible" Jessie wondered.
"It's madness, is what it is!" Chase protested.
"What is it?!" Layla demanded, angrily confused.
"I'll say it!" Lily excited exclaimed before clearing her throat. "He likes you, and you love him"
"What?! No I don't! You're actually thick, mate!" Layla exclaimed, folding her arms. "He doesn't like me and I hate him! That's the only feeling we got with each other!"
"Layla, you're still coming over tonight, right?" William suddenly appeared next to the small group of friends.
"Y-Yeah! Don't pop up out of nowhere again!" Layla whipped her head around to face him.
"Right. See you tonight, brat" he waved off with a grin before walking away.
"See ya, asshole" Layla grinned back before looking back at her friends. "See? There's no way-
"Guys, watch. He's about to talk to another girl. If it's different, he likes you. If it's the same, he doesn't" Jessie interrupted.
Layla shrugged as the four watched a brown-haired girl try to talk to William. "Hey, William right? I was wondering if you'd want to hang out later today. Maybe after school?" she kindly asked, unconsciously twirling her hair.
"No. I have better things to do tonight then 'hang out' with you. I barely know you and I'm not planning on getting to know you" he bluntly said before continuing to walk off.
Lily glanced at Layla with a grin on her face. "He said he had better things to do tonight. I guess you're the better thing, huh?" she joked.
"Fuck off! Nothing is happening between us!" Layla exclaimed.
"He's looking" Chase tiredly pointed out.
The girls turned around to see that Chase was right. William had turned to look at them and, for some reason, was smiling. Threateningly, Layla rolled up her sleeve as a warning and took a step towards him. He simply chuckled and mouthed the words "we will restart tonight" to her before walking away.
Lily squealed. "He likes you, you like him, perfect match!"
Layla scoffed. "Shut up. He's too much like me, that's why we don't get along. We get along because we're different. We've been friends for how long, seven years? I can't stand being in the same room as him for a couple seconds, let alone a whole tutor session"
"By the way, you're having another one tonight. Tell. Me. Everything. Even the steamy details!" Lily demanded.
"Nothing'll happen, you twat! Actually, let's make a bet. I'll keep your leather jacket if nothing happens. If something happens, you get it back. Deal?" Layla proposed.
"Totally! I can't wait to get my jacket back" Lily teased.
"I can't wait to add it to my wardrobe" Layla said through gritted teeth.
