Layla climbed into the matte black bus that morning, limping slightly. The dye in her hair was growing out and she was considering whether or not to re-dye it. Mentally concluding that she would, she took her seat next to Lily.
"Hey, girl. I heard that you screwed up your leg and couldn't go to your special session. I guess the bet's off, huh?" she shrugged.
"Nah, it's not off. Even though it doesn't count, I guess you could say you won" Layla admitted in defeat.
"Really?! Where's my jacket?" she beamed, grabbing the jacket from Layla as she handed it to her. "Yes! Wait, how did I win? What happened?!"
"I fucked up my leg in PE. That's true, right?"
"Riiight..."
"Well, when I did, William carried me to the nurse's office and we did the whole 'restarting' thing there"
"Yeah right! That's just code for 'we fucked on the hospital bed' huh?!" Lily quietly joked.
Layla punched her shoulder. "Hell no! Are you fucking insane?! We just called a truce. That's. It"
Lily laughed, rubbing the bruised area on her shoulder. "Hey, now that I have a bruise, TJ will carry me to the nurse and we'll 'restart' too?! she teased.
"Shut up!" Layla exclaimed angrily. "Either way, we just wanted the arguing and fighting to stop, both of us. So, the tutor sessions will keep happening and we'll save William's grade from being crushed, as well as mine"
Lily was about to continue to tease Layla when she noticed something different about her eyes. "Hey, where did you find coloured contacts?"
"What do you mean? My eyes are brown, mate. Did you smoke your dad's weed again? I told you, you'll see shit because-
"Woah, ok that's weird. Your eyes were green two seconds ago and now their back to brown. What the fuck?" Lily cut her off.
"That's what I mean-
"Layla, listen. My dad gave up weed when we started school, remember? Coke too! How can I take it when it's not in the house?!" she cut her off.
Layla was shocked. "Then what the fuck just happened?" The girls sat there, shocked and, for the most part, scared out of their minds. Chase and Jessie were only sitting on the row behind them, smiling wildly.
"Why did you do that, William?! Now, every girl from our side of the wall will be against us! Great job, lover boy!" TJ angrily scolded.
"Loverboy?! Where on earth did you get the idea that I love Layla?! I simply wanted the arguing to stop! It was wasting my time as well as hers. She was hurt because I distracted her, what did you want me to do?!" William protested.
"Not carry her like a bride just after marriage! Help her walk, fine, but don't go being chivalrous unless it's for every girl you meet!" TJ angrily suggested.
"Oh, fuck off TJ! Since when do you care about who I'm kind to?!" William snapped.
The pair were silent for a few seconds. "What? Why are you staring at me?" he asked.
"You're eyes are red. Not the white part, the irises. They are bright red, but now they've turned green again" TJ quietly replied.
William was shocked. Slowly, he reached up and placed his fingers next to his eye, touching it softly. "Are you sure?"
"What kind of fucking question is that?! Of course, I'm sure!"
Rebecca was still on her phone on the row in front of them, ignoring the boy trying to flirt with her. "What's your name?" she finally asked.
