Chase was in his PE lesson, sitting on the bench on the side of the gym. The coach had already given up on him but someone else hadn't. Her blonde waves bounced as she jogged the laps ahead of the rest of the class. Seeing the lazy guy sitting on the bench only fuelled her determination and actually angered her. "Come on! At least try-
"No" Chase cut her off. "Not everyone is like you, Crystal"
"Come on~" she reached out to grab his wrist but was taken aback by how warm his body seemed. "Woah, are you sick or something?"
"If I tell you, will you leave me alone?" Chase groaned. He noticed she had a thin golden chain wrapped around her neck. Raising an eyebrow, he looked up at her and wondered what she did for the coach to allow her to wear it.
"Well, I'm sorry for worrying about you!" Crystal huffed, her gem glowing faintly through her plain, PE shirt. Chase caught it just in time and had an idea.
"Alright. Only if you help me up" he asked, meekly holding his arm up.
Sighing annoyingly, she grabbed his forearm with both hands in an attempt to pull him up. But, somehow, she managed to drop him mid-pull to tend to the visibly sizzling wounds on her palms. "What the hell-
"Don't pretend that you don't know. Meet me behind the school building and we'll see who really doesn't know shit" he quietly said, standing up to leave the gym as the coach told him to.
Crystal acted dumb for the coach and her classmates, just to ignore the burning brightness of the gem on her chest. Confidence and energy filled up inside her. She knew that she'd win because, since she started training, her agility was cat-like. He could never avoid her even if he tried. However, though she didn't know this, that's what he wanted.
In more detail, Chase could slow down, or 'tire', a person's heartbeat to a stop. It took a while for it to take effect but it never failed. This would be his first time using it on a Heavenly Virtue, nonetheless the one that's the opposite of him. Needless to say, using the words 'fun' or 'interesting' to describe the battle would be a severe understatement.
In Chemistry on the other side of the school, Lily and her new lab partner, Jasmine Hunter, were experimenting with creating crystals of pure copper sulfate. Lily wasn't, and never will be, interested in what Ms Black was saying since she was too focused on the hand-mirror she held.
"Um, excuse me! Would you mind paying attention? As my lab partner, you-
"You're already starting to annoy me. Who are you anyway?" Lily cut her off, not bothering to look up at her.
"Look at me when I'm talking to you! And do you have to dress so... inappropriately"
Lily finally looked at her, eyes going up and down the girl's figure. Her long, dark fishtail braid came to her shoulder blades contrasted from her bright green eyes. The thick-rimmed glasses gave her the official 'geek' look in Lily's mind. Not only that, but she also wore a long denim skirt that reached her ankles and a dark green jumper. She covered herself well and prided herself for her 'good behaviour' as she called it. Jasmine Hunter was the daughter of a famous author and a nun-like woman. No wonder she was like this.
However, it wasn't her demeanour that made Lily hate her more than she did. Despite her modest clothing, Lily could see it as clear as day.
"Okay, bitch" Lily started, slamming her hand-mirror shut. "It's one thing to try and tell me what to do. It's somethin' else to cuss out my clothes. Who the hell raised you, God?"
"I'll have you know that my mother is a woman of God. Judging by your choice of clothing" Jasmine looked down at Lily's casual white tank-top and denim shorts "you could learn a thing or two from her"
