Chase decided that it was about time that the others knew about the twins. He organized a meeting after school at his house to get them into a familiar environment, but something stopped them in their tracks. The sight of Jessie's body on the bed like Snow White shook them all to the core. On the bedside table was a note which Chase volunteered to read aloud:
"Hey guys, if you're reading this then you've seen what Humility did to me. But, it doesn't mean that she's still alive either. I made her swallow a stronger poison but she got me good. By the way, don't fucking trust anyone. I mean anyone. I have a feeling that everyone at this damn school knows who we are. Especially since a teacher did this. I bet the bodies you left were swept up by the cleaner after you killed them. I don't have much time left so I'll give you one last clue. Anyone you know that isn't a Deadly Sin has to die. P.S...." he trailed off.
"W-What else does it say?" William asked.
Chase sighed. "There's something you guys need to know. Jessie and I-
"Are already dead" Layla finished. Once she had everyone's attention, she continued. "Ever thought about reburying your graves when these demons took you out of them?"
"Is this true?" Rebecca asked, staring at Chase.
When the six got to the graveyard and Chase led them to the open graves, there was a small collective gasp. However, Layla and Rebecca were the only ones that didn't react. Chase started "Once this is all over, Sloth will probably stay in my body since it's too lazy to go. Either way, I've literally been a dead man since the start"
William, TJ, and Lily have already left at this point. Layla stood there snarling with her arm folded, looking at Chase up and down. "If you genuinely trusted us, you would've told us. I guess you were too lazy to do that too" she said before walking away.
After a while, Chase solemnly said: "Don't you have somewhere to be?"
"No. Besides, there's really no reason for me to be angry" Rebecca calmly replied.
"How?! I- we lied to all of you about who we were!" he shouted, whipping his body around to face her.
"TJ did the same thing and we didn't abandon him! Besides, you're still the same person you were before so tell me, why should I get angry?" she shouted back, her voice lowering.
Chase stared at her, trying to find some hint of a lie or a joke or something that would give her a reason to hate him but he couldn't. He prepared for the entire group to fall apart after this was revealed. However, it only takes a little bit of hope to bring it back together.
He didn't know what to do at that moment. After a moment of silence, the pair began to notice the smell of the graves, swirling around them. Rebecca scrunched her nose slightly "We should probably go".
Chase reached out for her hand before she could leave. "Wait!" he half-exclaimed. Their hands brushed against one another for a moment, causing Rebecca to panic slightly.
"Y-Yeah?" she stammered.
"I just wanted to say thanks. Y'know, for not being a dick about the whole thing" he reverted back to his old self.
"Just make sure that you won't die as soon as this is over, ok? If not for yourself, then for me" she said, the last part much quieter.
"Want me to walk you home?" he suddenly blurted out, not really thinking about what he just said.
"Yeah" she quickly replied.
To be honest, the only thing he was doing was walking her to the gate since she knew how he felt about the other side. Still, the minutes dragged on to a point where they had no choice but to make small talk. The feelings of awkwardness and shyness created a thick mist around the pair.
