Jackson turned around to give him one of the most deranged looks the human face can muster. "Who the hell let you go?" he growled.
"I never trusted you, you two-faced prick. Have fun rotting in hell" William smirked before landing a punch straight to his jaw.
The two doctors immediately held him back by his arms. He tried his best to fight them off before rushing to Layla's side. She figured now was the time to stop pretending and start helping. Bolting upright, she hopped off of the table and held William close. "Thank God..."
"Layla? You're ok? How did you...?"
"I'll explain later, just help me kick his ass" she cut him off, glaring at Jackson who was picking himself up off of the floor.
Jackson had lost it at this point. Swinging punches like a madman, he became pretty easy to knock out. As his unconscious body dropped to the floor, the pair took the chance to make a run for it. With all of the security out trying to battle the public, it wasn't too hard weaving through the maze-like mansion. However, there was one thing they forgot.
Layla still had the gem.
"You still have that thing?! Why the hell didn't you smash it earlier?!" William angrily exclaimed as they ran.
"I... don't know. I guess there was something in me that didn't want him to die yet. Anyway, thanks for the reminder" Layla replied with a smirk, swinging the necklace around her finger before yeeting the gem in front of her, watching the now-black shards of the gem scatter the hardwood floor.
As the pair burst through the doors, it seemed like the guards were under Jackson's spell too, seeing as the didn't even try to stop the civilians from tearing down the wall. They couldn't even hear themselves think over the sounds of gunfire aimed at the wall.
However, there was still one more thing that worried them. How would they react? Then William remembered. Most of the maids, servants and butlers came from the poorer side so they would finally see their families again!
Layla and William looked at each other. They knew that there was still a long way to go before they had the paradise they, more like she, always dreamed of. Smiling as their friends rushed towards them, they knew that this would only be the first step.
"Mum! I'm going!" Rose yelled as she heaved her bag onto her shoulders. Today would be her first day at secondary school and she couldn't be happier. Her brother, Tyler, who'd already been going to school for a year, wasn't exactly ecstatic.
"Calm down, Ro. It's not the funfair" he groaned, tying his shoelaces.
"Tyler, don't kill her enthusiasm" their mother exclaimed from the living room. "Besides, I have to go to work so don't even think about leaving without me!"
Rose's bright blonde hair and brown eyes shone brightly in the sunlight as she skipped out of the door. Her excitement was infectious enough to spark a grin on Tyler's face. Freckles littered his cheeks as the cool breeze blew his short brown hair. Green eyes glowed slightly as he shielded his face from the reflected light from the windows.
Turning back, Rose noticed their mother was still next to them. "I thought you were going to work?"
"Can't a mother kiss her kids goodbye?" she grinned, dragging the siblings back for a kiss on the cheek each. "Have a good day, my darlings"
"We will!" Rose exclaimed as she skipped towards the gates, Tyler following close behind.
"Tyler, take care of your sister!" she warned.
