I wish I could say I didn't think of Noelle that night but it was hard to ignore the building up curiosity. I was more interested than I was intimidated which didn't help any less. She is everything I thought Jack would prefer in a girl, but as our attraction grew I figured his type of girl slowly turned into whatever I was. She made me feel small with her model legs, she made me feel insecure and suddenly jealous.
My reputation made Jack leave his friends when I was sure he wanted to try "party favors" just as much as they wanted to.
By the time I enter the kitchen for breakfast I was knee deep in old Instagram photos of Noelle Taylors. I was originally looking for any evidence of a pre existing relationship with Jack, but ended up falling into the rabbit hole of her around the country pictures. She changed her hair several time over the course of the year, not to mention how good she looked in each color, and according to her recent post she had just moved back into Oakland for school after being on the road with her family.
Great.
I close the application down preparing myself to exit the house. Jack's camaro parks alongside the curb the sound around us fill with the roars from his car. As I approach the car I wasn't sure If I should bring up Noelle or my hype stalking and overthinking, none of them seemed rational to talk about.
I slide into the passengers side putting my things in the back before settling up front. I turn to Jack when the car doesn't move instantly.
"I got you something," He says.
He shuffles into the divider before pulling out a brown paper bag. He offers the bag for me to take which I do quickly reaching inside grasping the small box. It was soft burgundy fabric box tied with a golden bow. I grew nervous from the box itself, it seemed like whatever was inside was well thought of. I push the top off the box revealing the golden letter "J" lying face up in the box, it dangles from a small gold chain as I pull it out.
He smiles at my reaction, "Now I'm all yours."
I smile widely at the statement itself before looking back to the chain.
"Noelle helped me pick it out last night."
Oh.
Not that it ruined any part of the gift, I still loved it and clearly some money went into it. It was more or less the mention of her name, I refrained letting it drain the fun out of this.
"So you went back after all?" I question.
I place the chain in his hand before turning my back to him and lifting my hair exposing the back of my neck.
His cold fingers slightly touch the skin making goosebumps run down my spine, "I figured the night was still young and I wasn't up to anything. Plus I saw this downtown and I thought of you."
He finishes latching the necklace removing his hands but quickly replacing the touch with a kiss to the back of my neck. Now the hair on my neck stood up and I feel the feeling in the pit of my stomach.
It was way to early to have these feelings.
I let my hair fall to its natural state while pulling the mirror down to stare at myself in the new jewelry piece. It was a nice reminder that my overzealous thinking of Noelle was nothing but my own thoughts messing with me.
"Thank you."
He's been staring at me with the same satisfied smile since he first revealed the brown paper bag to me. I replicate his smile before leaning across the divider running my hand across his jaw and closing the small.
He smiles into the kiss before pulling away leaving a small gap, "Now you're all mine."
