Meliodas's POV

Red, that was all that I saw. It clouded my vision, obscuring me of my more dominant self. I didn't feel like myself, but at the same time, I knew that these actions were mine. But I didn't care. Rudociel dewinged the love of my life, and I wasn't going to let that slide.

He was going to pay for even laying a finger on her. I contemplated ripping him limb from limb or tearing out is insides. As I pummeled Rudociel into the earth, slashing at him with my sword, sending hellblaze flying at him, and raining blows down on his form, I heard a scream.

It wasn't a scream of fear though, it was a scream of pain. Before, blood roared in my ears and all I could hear were my own thoughts. But for some reason, this scream got through, and I had a feeling I knew who's scream it was.

I branched off a part of the darkness from my arms, slamming Rudociel into the ground and keeping him there. I turned around and my eyes widened. There, lay Elizabeth on the ground, blood pooling out from her shoulder with Tarmiel standing over him.

My body filled with rage, fire burning in my veins. He reached down to grab her, and that was it. I kicked off the ground, launching towards the archangel. I collided into him, tackling him to the ground and pinning him down.

I raised my fist and punched him once, then twice, then a third time, then over and over and over again. Blood flew left and right, some even splattered on me. But he hurt what is precious to me, anyone who does that will be sent to the deepest depths of purgatory by my hand.

Once I felt that I had battered him enough, I got off him, I forced him up on his feet and dragged him over to Elizabeth. I brought Lostvayne to his neck and he gasped through bloodied lips.

"Heal her," I commanded, "now."
He gulped against the blade of my sword and outstretched his hand, emitting a white glow. The hole going through Elizabeth's shoulder closed up and she audibly gasped for air.

I stabbed Lostvayne into Tarmiel's shoulder and twisted it. He yelled in agony, trying to blast me with ark, but my darkness overpowered him. I shoved him to side and fell to my knees next to Elizabeth. I scooped her into my arms, gently brushing strands of hair from her face.

She smiled weakly, tears pouring down her face. She brought a shaky hand to my face, cupping my cheek. I took her hand and kissed her knuckles, loving the feeling of her being in my arms again.

"Meliodas," she murmured. I hummed in response, softly kissing the back of her palm. "Come back to me." My eyes widened and I jerked my head to look her right in her blue orbs.

"What?" I asked, surprised by the sudden statement.

"I've seen you in you demon form... But Assult Mode? I don't know how I know what that is, but please- please come back to me," she begged. My outer self groaned and growled while I wrestled it back into it's cage. I could feel a gap appear between my demon mark and the swirls on my skin weren't as sharp as before.

She sighed shakily in relief, rolled off me and onto her knees, and coiled her arms around my neck, pulling me into her embrace. I obviously squeezed back, just glad that she was safe. I guess we had been so lost in our contact that we didn't notice the two arks about to be brought down on us.

I only noticed when I felt like something was burning slightly on my back. I looked up to see the arks right over us. It was too late to move, and I knew it wouldn't effect Ellie. I was just going to have to take the hit.

"MEL-" Ellie started to scream before a shadow fell over us. A purple, vibrant cube enveloped us and the arks exploded against it, dispersing into the air. We both turned slightly and saw gold, narrowed and serious eyes. Merlin.

She had just made it over in time to put up a perfect cube. The cube dissipated, and it was only then that I noticed her physical state. She had multiple bruises, a few open wounds including a large cut running down the side of her face, and fresh blood streaming from her lips.

Her eyes dulled slightly and she began to fall sideways. I grabbed her and lowered her onto the ground. Elizabeth was trembling with tears in her eyes.

"I-I'm sorry, I c-can't heal you," she cried, wiping her eyes. Merlin smiled at her.

"The last of my energy was spent, but trust me, none of this is your fault. I only want to help, I want to help you and Meliodas regain your memories," she comforted. Mine and Elizabeth's eyes widened. Regain our memories, there it was again.

Elizabeth and I exchanged looks, one tearful and one serious. We didn't know what all of this meant, but we did know one thing: We were going to figure it out. And we were going to do it together.

No matter what.
