I stared at the back of Meliodas's head, my hands trembling. It wasn't out of fear though, it was out of nervousness. I surged forward, grabbing Meliodas by his shoulder.
"Meliodas-" I tried, but not a second later I was shoved back, falling to the ground. Meliodas growled and looked over his shoulder. His demon mark was full circle, pulsing with dark energy that made me shiver.
"Stay," he ordered. Past him, I could see Rudociel fly out from the wreckage of the wall, a blue blade made out of light surrounding his hand. He yelled, raising his sword to cut Meliodas down, but Meliodas quickly countered that attack with his own sword.
He brought his foot up and kicked Rudociel, sending him soaring backwards. Meliodas spread his darkness, his wings looking more demonic as he flew after Rudociel to continue their battle.
Suddenly, arms wrapped around me from behind and I struggled for a split second.
"It's just me, Sis Sis!" a voice cried. I froze, turning my head to see Merlin, her eyes watering. Tears of happiness began streaming down my face and I engulfed her in a hug, smiling into her hair.
"I missed you so much!" I sobbed while she rubbed my back. Explosions sounded from all around us, debris flying everywhere. I turned and gasped as a large chunk of rock came flying at us. Then, a barrier was placed around us in the shape of a cube.
The rock exploded against the side of it. I turned back to Merlin to see her face dark and serious. I gave her back a pat and her face softened. The barrier dissipated. Merlin pulled away, tucking a strand of hair behind her ear and smiling. But her hand caught her eye.
She gasped, holding her hand in front of her. I saw what was on it and my eyes widened. Red.
"Elizabeth, let me see your back," Merlin said sternly. I nodded and turned around on my knees, sitting back on my heels. She sucked in a harsh breath.
"Elizabeth, what happened?" she asked, worry and anger laced in her shaky tone. I turned back to face her. I explained everything, from beginning to end. By the end of it, Merlin's hands were shaking with rage. I set my own on hers to calm her down. "Sis Sis, please allow me to heal you."
I slowly turned away from her once more, gripping my dress as she pressed her hands to my back and muttered some unknown words. The moment she removed her hands, I felt so different. I felt new, better than I had ever felt before.
I pulled Merlin into my chest and cried a thank you into her hair. She relaxed against me, squeezing me back, and for a second, I saw us 3,000 years ago. We were sitting the grass by a lake, cuddling like sisters.
But there was someone else too, that same blurry face I saw in my dreams. Also the one I saw right before I passed out at school. I jumped back with a start, my eyes wide. Merlin pulled away, her browns pulled together with worry.
"I-I saw me and you, 3,000 years ago by a lake, but there was someone else, someone with messy blonde hair. Merlin's expression hardened and a pained look took over her features. "Merlin, do you know who that was?"
She pressed her lips into a thin line, nodding her head.
"Who-"
"I can't tell you, Gowther and I will have to help you regain your lost memories," the last part she said so quietly I almost didn't hear it, "and Meliodas's." My eyes grew wide. I was about to ask her what she meant before another explosion sounded from behind us.
A shockwave was sent, causing my bun to fall out and tossing Merlin's hair around as we covered our eyes. Tiny pieces of rock whizzed past us, narrowly missing our heads. Merlin and I stood up once our hair had fallen to our shoulders/backs.
She stepped forward, standing in front of me protectively. Meliodas and Rudociel were in a large crater, exchanging blows. Rudociel had a large cut on his head, blood streaming down his face with multiple scratches and bruises on his skin.
Meliodas had a not too deep gash on his stomach with scratches and bruises as well. Rudociel was holding his own, but Meliodas was enraged. Merlin also had a few scratches, but that was it. My dress was torn and I was a little scraped up.
I looked around, my friends still fending off goddesses. My eyes widened in a sudden realization.
Where were Sariel and Tarmiel?
I whipped my head back to Merlin.
"Merlin!-" I wasn't able to finish though. A blast of light struck her and she went flying backwards. I gasped and shouted her name, kicking off my heels and sprinting towards her. But something grabbed a hold of my arm and yanked my back.
I was face to face with Tarmiel. I struggled in his grip, trying to pull my arm free and pounding against his shoulder.
"I don't want to hurt you, Elizabeth," he started, "but I will if I have to." I continued to thrash in his grip. "Take care of the mage, Sariel," Tarmiel ordered.
Sariel came into veiw, a satisfied smirk on his face. I felt a sudden burst of magical energy. I didn't know where it came from since I didn't have my wings, but the thought of Merlin in trouble made something explode inside me.
I raised my foot and kicked Tarmiel hard in the stomach, causing a crunch to ring through out the air. He gasped, staggering back and releasing my arm. I began to run to where Merlin was. Then time seemed to go in slow motion.
A boom. A blinding white light. Then stinging, horrible pain. I screamed, falling forward and crumpling to the floor. I turned on my side, hissing through my teeth and saw a large hole just under my collar bone on my right side.
Hot tears poured down my face and I couldn't move. I spat out blood, my conscious wavering. I lifted my head and saw Tarmiel staring down at me, confidently smiling. But he unknowingly alerted someone.
And that someone was pissed.
I'm sorry this chapter took so long to publish! It's really rushed and bad, there's probably a lot of errors but I'm just too tired to care at this point. Anyways I'll try to upload the next chapter soon! Thanks for reading!
