Meliodas and I shared smiles with Merlin. All three of us got up, scanning the terrain. Diane, King, Ban and Elaine were taking out the remaining goddess guards. Suddenly, a rumble shook the ground and almost sent us toppling over.

Merlin levitated and leveled herself off while Meliodas steadied me.

"What the hell was that?" I heard Diane cry, finishing off the goddesses she was fighting and joining us along with the rest of our friends. We all stood in a tight huddle, looking around frantically for the cause of the disturbance.

Then, an overwhelming presence engulfed our beings. A gust of wind ripped through the air, making all of us stumble backwards. Then, I saw her:

My mother, her large figure appearing before us in a flurry of light and feathers.

"Elizabeth!" her voice boomed, making me tremble. "Stop this rebellious behavior and return to my side at once!" My friends tensed from all around me, Meliodas especially.

"You must be out of your damn mind if you think we'll ever let you take her!" Meliodas snarled. My mother scowled, the aura around her swirling with anger yet still regal in every possible way.

"Meliodas, dastardly, traitorous son of Tyrannous, you have no right to speak to me in such a way," she spoke smoothly, her voice sickly sweet. She scanned all of us, her anger flaring. "You despicable children, I shall have all of you executed unless my daughter is returned to me!"

I froze. I could stop all of this right now if I gave myself up again. I began to step forward until a hand grabbed my arm.

"There's no way we're letting you go again," Meliodas said pointedly. I looked to all of my friends who had the same determined expression he did.

"But I-I can end all of this right now-"

"Ellie no matter how many times you give yourself up, we will never stop fighting to get you back," Elaine quipped, smiling at me. I smiled, grateful to have such wonderful friends.

"ENOUGH OF THIS!" Mother screamed, raising her hand and gathering light. "YOU ALL SHALL PERISH AT MY HAND, YOU WILL NEVER KEEP MY DAUGHTER FROM ME!"

She reeled her arm back before bringing it down, sending the ball of light flying at us. I knew it wouldn't hurt me, it wasn't aimed for me, it was aimed for my friends. There wasn't any time to run, we were all too tired.

But, one of us still had enough energy. A blur shot past me, wings angled, straight into the light, darkness curling up from their body and spreading out to envelope the entire ball. My eyes widened in horror once I realized who it was, but it was too late.

The ball exploded against him, and I heard his cry of agony, it felt like my heart was getting ripped to shreds just from the sound. The light faded and a figure fell from the sky. A scream tumbled from my mouth as I watched Meliodas descend towards the ground.

I sprung up and tore across the ground, sprinting as hard as I could. I made it just in time to cushion his fall, ignoring my now sore legs and scraped knees from falling to the pavement. I sniffled and brushed some of the hair out of his bloodied and bruised face.

He had burn marks all over his body, they were pouring blood and didn't look like it was going to stop anytime soon. His face was twisted in pain, and the warmth was fading from his body. My shoulders shook and my being was wracked with a painful sob.

I clutched his unmoving form closer to me, weeping into his chest.

"How noble, sacrificing his own pathetic life for his friends. No matter, you all won't last long anyways. Now, Elizabeth, stop this foolishness and-"

Third person POV

Without warning, a faint glow began to appear, causing everyone's eyes to widen once they saw the source. Elizabeth's entire body had brightened, light curling up around her, expanding out from the entire area.

She gently laid Meliodas on the ground before something burst from her back. Everyone gasped in shock. Her wings. All four of them, seeming to be more angelic then before. She kicked off the ground, flying up to be eye-level with her mother.

"This is impossible, Rudociel tore off your wings!" The Supreme Diety exclaimed, taken aback by the sudden display.

"Mother," Elizabeth began, "no matter what happens, I will always be a better, stronger person because of my friends, there's nothing you could ever do or say to change that." Alma was shocked, she was about to speak before Elizabeth soared back down to her beloved's side.

She held him once more, combing through his matted and bloody hair.

"Reinvigorate," she murmured softly.

Meliodas's POV

Darkness surrounded me. I was aware of a tingling sensation spreading through out my body, but that was it. Until warmth filled my being, reaching to the very depths of my marrow. All my wounds had seemed to be healed. I slowly opened my eyes to be met with the face of my beautiful goddess.

Her wings were spread out behind her, her face tear streaked (now with happy tears), but she still looked beautiful. Wait. Wings?! I shot up, gripping her shoulders.

"Your wings! They're..." I trailed off. She turned her head and inspected them, smiling.

"I guess, somehow, they came back," she noted. I nodded my head before reuniting with all of my friends and assuring them I was okay. Then, a voice broke through the moment.
