Chapter 13

Ben's P. O. V.

"Mal?" I couldn't believe my eyes. She was dying just 10 minutes ago and now she's awake.

"Hey." She said. Next thing I know I tackled Mal with a hug.

"Okay, okay. Might be awake, but still in a lot if pain here."

"Sorry. I just. I thought I lost you. But......  your here, alive."

I couldn't keep it in anymore. I had started bawling my eyes out. These past couple of weeks have been an emotional roller coaster. And this time Mal was the one to comfort me. Well as much as she could at least.

"Shhhh. I know, I know. But it's okay. I'm here. We're both here. Thanks to you. I heard someone was being a hero and gave me one of his kidneys. Thank you." She said wiping my tears away.

"Oh Mal, of course I did. Who would of thought we could have gotten any closer." I say starting to laugh.

"Yeah."

We sat their laughing of asses off until Mal couldn't any more.

"Okay, okay. Don't make me laugh any more, still in a lot of pain overhear. "

"Okay, okay. No more laughing. How do you feel? "

"Well how do I sart off. Oh I know. Some birthday first off. Second, I can barely move my legs. Third, my arm really hearts. Fourth, it hurts to breath or even move. Anything else that I dont know about? "

"You also have a minor concussion." The doctor said finally walking in.

"Along with, as you can see, a broken leg, shattered knee cap, fractured wrist, dislocated shoulder, a few bruised and fractured ribs, and of course you minor concussion. Along with your kidney transplant. I'd outta say your one lucky girl."

"Not lucky, just a fighter."

I had grabbed Mals good hand and gave it tight squeeze to reassure her. She was right. Not lucky, just a fighter.

"Well either way your here safe and here with me."

That time I kissed her. Boy was I glad to have her back.

"Well before I go, let me tell what's gonna happen over the next few weeks. We do have a couple surgeries lined for you. As you know this is going to be a long recovery. Now starting tomorrow we are going to go in and fix that shattered knee. As the leg will heel on its own eventually. You are going to have to wear a cast for 10 weeks. Your fractured wrist has almost heeled properly since it been a few weeks. Your dislocated shoulder should be able to come out of the sling by the end of the week. Your concussion will heel over time. And finally your ribs will be helped here in a couple of weeks."

"Wow. Anything thing else doc. I'm trying to walk across that stage here at the end of May."

"We won't make any promises, but I can't promise you'll be able to walk across it, more like hop across it."

Of course Mal would ask about that. All she's ever wanted to do since the beginning of senior year is walk across that stage.

"Don't worry Mal, either we will get you across that stage. And fairy godmother had already said that your excused for the weeks that you have and soon will miss. "

First day of senior year was finally here. Everyone was eating their last first breakfast of the year as a whole class.

Ben "So what is everyone most excited for this year. "

Audrey "I'm excited for the Spring dance."

Evie "I'm excited to expand my fashion business and creating our Capa and gowns."

Jay "I'm excited for tourney season. Our last season together as a team."

Carlos "I'm excited to finally open my vet clinic at the end of the year."

Jane "I can't wait to start learning from my mom. Cause soon yours truly will be the headmistress here when my mom finally decides to retire."

Lonnie "I can't wait for Words and Shield season. Guess who gets to be captain again because they won't change that stupid rule in that stupid book"

Chad "I'm just gonna go with the flow this year, and see what happens."

Ben "Well I can not wait until the Valentine's dance this year."

Evie "Any specific reason"

Ben "No. What about you Mal? Anything your excited for."

Mal "Honestly, I just need to walk across that stage at the end of the year. Show Auradon that us VKs aren't just here to ruin everything."

Ben "Now what makes you think that."

Mal "Oh I forgot your clueless. Sorry, love you. But Ben seriously look around. Pay attention. People here still think we're gonna do something bad and free the villians."

Ben " No one thinks that."

Mal "Mmmmk"

Hours had gone by. Mal was peacefully asleep. Once the knees got out that she was awake, one by one people came to visit her.

Evie had practuallu tackled her, and Mal had to remind her she was still in a lot of pain.

Jay and Carlos both were crying. Which made Mal cry. And the four courts sat their for an hour talking.

Jane came by for like 20 minutes before she had to leave. Still has to take it easy. She's also gone back to Auradon Prep taken her morning classes then going home having her mother teach her, her afternoon classes.

Jay had rolled Lonnie in to come and visit. She was very happy to see that Mal was okay. They were gonna be in recovery together.

My parents even came by. They told Mal that they were very happy that she was okay. And that they are very excited to welcome her into the family.

That made me forget. We're in the world was her ring?

I had asked the doctor to give me her stuff and sure enough the ring was in.

So while Mal was sleeping I put the ring back kk on her, kissed her head, and went to sleep.

Everything was okay. She's alive.
