"Ready to go?" Sophie asked. Keefe nodded, so she led him into the light. When they arrived at Havenfield, Grady was standing at the door, waiting for them. Sophie's arm was wrapped around Keefe, in hopes it would help him walk with less pain.

"What are you doing here with that boy?" Grady asked with a raised eyebrow.

"He got hurt so he has to stay here with us." Sophie explained.

"I don't see the correlation between the two, but I'll let it go. Are you okay?" Grady asked, his expression changing from angry to concerned.

"Oh I'm fine- " Keefe started.

"Not you. Sophie." Grady said, cutting him off.

"I'm fine. Keefe got stabbed and is in a lot of pain so can we go inside now?" Sophie asked.

"Alright. But Keefe? You are sleeping on the couch."

They walked inside and sat on the couch. Grady went upstairs to tell Edaline what happened. Sophie looked over at Keefe and felt horrible that he was going through so much. She looked towards the ground, and replayed all that had happened that day. She had almost lost Keefe. That's when she realised something. She couldn't live without him. Sure he was annoying and was constantly making jokes, but that's what she loved about him. Wait. Loved?

"You okay Foster? You had a sudden change in mood." Keefe smirked. Sophie met his eyes, and studied the boy before her. From his messy blonde hair to his ice blue eyes.

I think I'm in love with you Sophie thought. She looked away, startled by her thought. She turned red, and looked at the ground.

"I'm going to bed now," She said, suddenly. She popped up and started to walk away when Keefe grabbed her hand.

"Wait," He said, with a serious expression on his face. "Thank you for being here with me,"

"I think we should make a rule where I promise to not get hurt as long as you promise too," Sophie said.

"I can't guarantee that, but I'll try,"

"Good," She started to walk away again, but Keefe pulled her into a hug. Her heart fluttered, per usual. She pulled away, said goodnight, and went to bed. She fell asleep, and relived that day. Except this time, Keefe didn't make it. Sophie woke up screaming, but almost instantly a rush of calmness went through her mind.

"Keefe?"

"Yeah?"

"Um... what are you doing here?" Sophie asked, terrified Grady was going to walk in any second.

"You were screaming. You have been screaming for a few minutes here and there." Sophie paled, wondering if somehow he knew what she had dreamt about.

"I'm so sorry I woke you up, it was just a bad dream."

"Does this happen often?"

"Yeah," She admitted. He sent her more calming breezes when she heard someone clear their throat. It was Grady.

"What's going on?" Grady asked, trying to remain calm.

"Sophie was having a bad dream, she was screaming, and I came up to make sure she was okay."

"And you are holding her hand why?" Grady asked.

"Dad it's okay. He is making me feel calm by sending me these calming breezes into my mind. " Sophie said. Grady looked suspicious, but in the end believed her.

Keefe went back downstairs and Grady went back to bed. It was around 3 in the morning, and Sophie knew she wouldn't be able to fall back asleep while she was feeling this panicked. She thought about getting up, but then remembered the giant stubborn goblin standing outside her door. She thought about the day some more and wondered what made Ro go crazy. She recalled Dex telling her he knew what happened.

"Dex?" Sophie transmitted.

"Sophie? It's 3 in the morning, what are you doing? Talking to me?"

"What happened with Ro?"

"You really want to do this? At 3- "

"At 3 in the morning yes. And if you don't hurry then it'll be 4 in the morning."

'You sure are grumpy."

"What happened??"

"Did you happen to see a round silver ball?"

"No,"

"Well, it was floating in the air above us. My guess is the Neverseen somehow knew we'd go into the forest and bring Ro along. After looking at it more carefully, I discovered that the machine can control anyone and anything."

Sophie gasped in relief, glad that Ro didn't have any control over what happened.

"How does it control someone?" Sophie asked.

"I tried piecing it back together, but it didn't work. I have no idea how it only worked on Ro, and not all of us. But trust me, I'm working on it."

"Okay. Anything else?"

"I'm tired,"

"Okay okay, I'll leave you alone. Thanks for updating me. Oh, by the way, Keefe is mostly better."

"That's good. I'm going back to sleep now,"

"Okay,"

With the knowledge that Ro was innocent, Sophie was able to fall asleep.
