"It's been two weeks. I thought you were better."  Sophie transmitted to Keefe. Elwin has been checking him almost every hour for the past few days. His pulse is weak, but it's there. The bursts of emotions went away as if she had just imagined them.

"I stopped going to my classes. I can't focus knowing you are here, suffering."

Sophie scooted closer to him and took his hand.

"Your dad stopped by yesterday. For what's it worth, he seemed sad."

She couldn't hold it back anymore - tears fell from her eyes. She didn't know how much longer she could do this.

----------

"Two and a half weeks." She transmitted. She stopped attending her classes temporarily due to her lack of concentration.

"You have to wake up. Keefe, I won't last much longer." She felt pain shoot through her. She thought for a split second it came from him but quickly realized it was her own emotions.

"You know, the day I met you, I thought you were a really popular and selfish guy. But I got to know you, and you turned out to be really sweet and caring. I'm sorry your family never got to realize how amazing you are." A tear rolled down her face as she pulled out her crystal to leap home.

----------

"Sophie?" Elwin said, rushing into the room. It had been three weeks since the incident, and she was a mess. She couldn't sleep or eat, and everyone was worried about her.

"Sophie? Please let me give you a sedative. A small one. You need sleep," Elwin pleaded. She shook her head and sat down next to Keefe. Elwin sighed and exited the room. She could hear him talking to Edaline and Grady, who had come with her to see Keefe.

"I can't hold on much longer. The guilt is slowly breaking me. I can't function, and I feel so lost. One of these days, I won't be here telling you what a mess I am. I miss you so much."

Sophie fell to the floor and held onto herself as though she were holding on to millions of broken pieces of something.

"I've done everything I can. It's been three weeks. I need to move on and accept the fact that you are gone, and it's my fault, and I couldn't get you help in time. I can't express how sorry I am, I couldn't save you."

She got up, shaking from the sorrow she felt.

She walked next to Keefe and transmitted, "Thank you for always being there for me. For always caring. For always protecting. For doing everything you can to make me happy."

She took a deep breath once she realized what she was about to tell him.

"You mean the world to me, and it's killing me that you are no longer in it. I love you. So much."

She leaned down and gave him a kiss on the cheek. She gathered her things and started to reach for the door handle when she stopped. This was her goodbye.
