We flew threw the open arms of space. It felt like I was out in space for the first time in my life. Pidge, Keith, and Allura begged to differ. Keith had been in space even after we left Voltron to serve the blade. Pidge has gone on several missions for her projects and to find the next legendary defenders. Little did she know that we'd have to stay as the legendary defenders for another battle. Allura has been in space for a long time. She probably learned how to fly threw space before she learned how to walk.
We started to fly through the solar system. I watched Earth slowly leave my sight. My attention was then stolen by the destruction of Venus. Shaking, I stare at the destroyed remains of Venus. We flew passed the dead and lifeless planet. It looked like it could crumble and fall apart any second"What happened here?"I asked in shock. Pidge answered through the transmitter. "No one knows. It was destroyed just last month. Garrisons aren't here to investigate and I was busy studying the aura." She explained. She sounded unsurprised. She must've known about this before we saw it in front of us. We flew past it as if nothing happened, but I had a feeling something was off. A planet wouldn't just self destruct.
Before I knew it, we arrived at our headquarters. It was a dead planet. Its crops and land had been dried. There was no sound, there was no light and there was no life. I landed my lion and stood up. Although the planet looked lifeless, the land was still sturdy. The planet's land was still strong and still and the planet had oxygen, so it was safe to set camp here. It was the our headquarters anyway. Allura stepped out of her shuttle. She looked worried. "Why would Coran insist on staying behind?" She asked herself out loud. "It's okay Allura. For now we should set camp here. We"ll leave for our missions first thing in the morning." Keith announced like the leader he was. My expression sunk from happiness and nostalgia of being in space again to sadness. "You sound just like Shiro," I said.
Keith looked at me and did an expression I can describe as an upside-down smirk. His brows twitched. It was obvious he wanted to yell at me. He tried not to frown or put on an angry expression but it was obvious. He turned around and began to set camp. Clearly, he was trying to cover up his anger, but he wasn't doing a good job. We began to set camp, by set camp, I mean we just sat on dead grass and began to rest. It was more like setting a pile of dead grass to act as a pillow than actually setting a campsite. Keith was trying to make fire with two pieces of stone while I gathered a few twigs I found on the planet. I stopped to look around. It was quite similar to Earth but dead and dark. I was interrupted by Keith's annoying voice. "Do you have any plans on heading back to work?" He asked, focusing on the fire. I hissed at him as I continued to gather twigs and sticks.
Once I was done, I walked up to Keith and sat next to him. I softly laughed. He paused and looked at me. "Why are you laughing?" He asked in confusion. "Your mullet's always in your face," I replied. I reached my hand out to push it away. He stared at me awkwardly. "What?" I asked. He stared at me, slightly irritated. I came to a realization into what just did. "I-I meant that a brotherly way of course!" I added. "Good." He said smirking, as he drew his attention back to the fire. "You are my brother Keith," I said smiling. "I know. Even though we don't exactly see eye to eye, you're my bro." He said. I was glad he actually something like that. He spoke like a dry texter from the start conversation until here. Over the last 5 years, I learned a lot about dry texters and how to get them to properly communicate with me again. "Where's the rest of the team?" I asked, hoping he'd properly respond. "Pidge and Allura are asleep in the shuttle. Hunk is trying to make something appetizing with the snacks we brought with us. He's behind the shuttles. Go bother him instead." He said slightly annoyed. "But I want to bother youuuuu," I said. Wrapping my arms around him, laughing. I was reminded on him my nephew would do that to me whenever he insisted on taking him on a ride on my ship that I barely use. I expected Keith to push me away, but to my surprise, he tilted his head on mine.
"What about the fire?" I asked. He reached his hand out and created a fire using his powers.
"But Allura said-"
"Forget what Allura said. She doesn't have to know." Keith interrupted chuckling.
He looked up at me with his purple eyes. "What happened to your hair?" Keith asked in slight disgust.
"What's wrong with my hair?"
"It's curly."
I was so busy doing nothing I didn't notice.
"You don't like it?" I asked.
"Depends. Do you still hate my mullet?" He said laughing, as I pushed his head away as I joined in with the laughter. I laid down, using Keith's lap as a pillow. I looked aside to see Pidge walking out of the shuttle. Messy hair, tilted glasses and probably half-dead, she stared at me sleepily me and Keith sleepily. She walked to the back of the shuttle, driven by the flavorful smell of Hunk's cooking. I turned back to Keith, who was staring at the fire. "Your lucky to have Pidge as a girlfriend," I stated. "Oh- she isn't." He corrected me. He didn't seem bothered. "What? I saw you two kiss before we left Earth." I said in confusion. "It was more of a goodbye kiss. If one of us wouldn't make it after this mission, we wanted to end in neutral and platonic terms." He explained. Eventually, I fell asleep.
