5 years had gone by since the accident. since the day she died. you still occasionally hear the sound of her glasses cracking on the road. every day the sound of cars pass you and you hear the scream you let out that night; it replays in your head like a melody from long ago that you cant quite remember the words to. the soft smoke that escaped the chimney. the devilish look on his face. you saw it that night 5 years ago. you saw the way he watched you from his opened windows. he knew something you didn't that christmas eve. he saw something in you, or was it behind you? was it something getting you? a car next to you, getting to close? whatever it was. whoever it was, big thanks. you smiled to yourself at the thought of humor and light in the situation, but the joy and laughter stopped as you hear children pass. their light giggles and hopes of miracles. christmas was so magical; they had no idea. a hum of an engine started just outside the door. you sit up, looking around. you see the time. 9:47. you shut your eyes. no, no, please no. not again not again. a vibrant and cold flow of jingle bell rock surrounds you as you cover your ears. flashes of light and flashes of that night corrupt your thoughts, and you're on the floor. the vivid and empty street, accompanied by the blaring music set you back in the car. there she was. a solid moment of clarity hit like slow motion. her pigtails. her sweet little face. her red backpack. her glasses. there she was, but that clarity stopped and you struck her again. a loud thud sent the car flying upwards, and back on its wheels. your loud scream stops and you shakily look around. you look in the rear view mirror, and see her, dead in the street. her eyes set on you. her glasses were sprawled in bits across the street. she opened her mouth as if she was trying to speak. the music stoped and the roads lights shut down. you were back in your room, on the floor. you stand up and catch your breath. you walk outside for fresh air, but there he is again. same devilish smirk on his face as he holds his hand out. "come, my child. it's time to do it again". you shake your head. "no.. please no." his hand drops as his smirk does, and his tone deepens. "this is hell, accept your fate." your eyes close and you reawaken in the car. the music once again blaring through the car. this is hell. this is your eternity. the thud. the scream. the boy in the window. the glasses on the road. her eyes seeing her killer in the car as she bleeds out on the road. this is what you did, deal with it.
