she felt the stone cold floor, surrounded by cobwebs. she slowly stood up, falling into the webs that were so thickly sustained that they supported her weight. crawling on all 4's, she reached a brick wall. she let her fingers nuzzle into the holes and cracks until she was standing up and managed to turn around. the webs had seemingly spiraled upward, as if she had been climbing down toward the wall. she sat against the wall, and let out a deep exhale. a soft mumble seeped through the wall and into her ears. she turned around and called out. "hello?". the mumbling grew louder until she realized there was a latch in the wall. she opened the latch to reveal a window into her home. her mother looked at her from the other side. "mom? mom! mom you found me!" she yelled as she placed her hands on the glass. "cordelia? cordelia hurry up." her mother said, fixing her earrings. "we can't be late". her smile faded as she got closer to the glass. "mom?" she questioned. "coming mom!" said a chipper voice from upstairs. a disfigured corpse limped down the stairs. it's eyes on cordelia the whole way down. "mom! turn around, that's not me!" she screamed. her mom looked behind her, seeing the remnants of that thing. she looked back at cordelia and backed up next to the corpse. it smiled and rested an arm on her mother's shoulder. the lights flickered, and they were gone. that thing had convinced the world it was cordelia. it took her life and her future. it went on to become a successful poet, who later was recognized for several awards. it married a man named mark, and had 3 children. it was the literal epitome of greatness, achieving everything cordelia couldn't. cordelia had been trapped in darkness for so long that she lost her ability to speak and function properly. all she could do was smile and mumble her own name. she'd been trapped for over 40 years, and even through the brain trauma, she recognized the meaning of suicide. she unfortunately took her life one day, by suffocating herself in the cobwebs, like drowning. that day, her soul left it's body and no one knew. she woke up next to her body, nothing but a ghost now. this was her eternity. she cried out and screamed, but something stopped her. a loud bang disrupted her, and that brick wall broke down. police and firemen ran inside and saw her body, limp and lifeless on the floor. "how the hell did she survive in here for so long?" on officer asked. the other shrugged and looked at her body. "i don't think that's really her body. i don't think that thing is real."
