you never thought he'd ask you, but he did. he asked you out and he told you all he felt, something so unlike him to do. but he did it, and you could tell he meant every word of it. it was that kind of unsaid reassurance that kept you two going. from awkward jokes and side conversations to dates alone and discovering new things about each other. he wasn't who you thought he was. he never really disliked you, but you scared him. he knew he liked you and he was scared so he stayed away, tried to lead you away, did whatever he could to keep distance. now, however, he was his same old self at school, but with you by his side. you joined in on his rude jokes and comedic breaks. you two were sort of a duo, you could say. but with this immense joy, comes betrayal. you stopped talking to your friends, slowly, but surely. you sat with him more, you waited for him more, you did more for him and less for anyone else there. you cut everyone off because all you needed in that moment was him. and he was there for you. you both were happy with your newfound lives, and the memories grew. you occasionally passed your old friends, who would glance at you and exchange rude looks. it didn't bother you much at all. one day, however, he pulled you aside and stood in front of all of the lunch tables. everyone looked at the two of you and he smiled. "we've been together for a while now, and you make me really happy, you know?" he stared. you nodded and smiled. "and i wanted to seal the deal, i guess." he said, holding out a promise ring. you smile, but feel unsure of if you want to take it. you hesitantly reach for it, and he throws it in your face, laughing loudly. "stupid bitch, i never loved you. take that ring, it was a dollar anyways." he mumbled. everyone around you laughs and you look at him. the dark and sinister glow in his eyes were back, and you finally saw through the façade. he never loved you.
