chapter 16

The whole day was full of mixed emotions. Joshua didn't even know if he was upset or happy at the moment. Getting his job back felt great but he didn't know how he felt about Junhui anymore. The boy was great; he was really funny and kind; but his heart always stung when he saw his dynamic with Jeonghan.

He shouldn't have been bothered. Jeonghan was a person who was generally touchy with his friends. He was the type of person who'd have no problem flirting with his friends or kissing them.

Yet it annoyed Joshua when he saw it being done with someone other than him.

It also annoyed him when him and Jeonghan were lying on the couch together, the other lying on his chest and wouldn't stop talking about Junhui. Joshua would say he was paying attention but he wasn't really. All he heard was how long it'd been since Jeonghan saw him so he missed him and how funny and cute he was.

"Why are you so close to him?" Joshua mumbled, hoping Jeonghan didn't hear.

Unfortunately, he did.

"Why do you ask?" Jeonghan raised an eyebrow and looked up at him.

"I-" Joshua avoided his gaze.

"Aww, are you actually jealous?" For some reason, it didn't sound like he was teasing, though. "There's no need for that."

Joshua watched as Jeonghan crawled up the sofa and kissed both his cheeks. That was when he finally accepted the fact he might have felt slight attraction towards Jeonghan. Joshua blushed but then smiled and cupped Jeonghan's face.

"You're right, sorry for being irrational." He chuckled and brought the other's face down and kissed his forehead.

"You guys are so gay."

The two turned to see Seungcheol standing by the sofa. He was holding Noire and his hair was messed up. He looked like one of those tired kings with their black cats but that was hot. Joshua didn't even have time to think about denying his statement.

"Okay, hetero," Jeonghan said and kissed Joshua again.

"Was that supposed to be an insult?"

"Maybe, maybe not. What're you gonna do about it, hetero?"

"Stop saying that." Seungcheol glared, which scared Joshua more than it did Jeonghan. His ears turned pink, signalling he was mad.

"Why, hetero?" That's when Joshua learned Jeonghan didn't give a damn about life.

"Because-" Seungcheol paused, giving Noire time to jump out of his arms. "That's offensive."

"Okay, and?" Jeonghan hid his face in Joshua's neck.

Seungcheol finally gave up and walked away to the kitchen.

"Is 'okay, hetero' your new 'okay, boomer?'" Joshua asked.

"Does it matter is Seungcheol's both? He's practically ancient."

"I can hear you!" Seungcheol called.

"Shut up, hetero!"

A groan could be heard, followed by the sound of a plate breaking.

"What if he's not straight?" Joshua asked softly. He didn't know why but he didn't think Seungcheol was straight. He'd say it was his gaydar but he didn't even know his own sexuality.

"He probably isn't," Jeonghan agreed. "But it's fun to tease. After all, he's the hetero I can bully. You're the only acceptable straight person."

"Oh, about that-" Joshua muttered. He decided Jeonghan should know but before he could say anything, Jeonghan's phone began to ring.

"Hello?"

Joshua closed his eyes as he waited for Jeonghan to finish his call. He could've fell asleep right then and there, thanks to his long day, but forced himself to stay awake.

When Jeonghan ended the call and poked the American's cheek.

"Chan called," he said.

"What'd he say?" Joshua asked as he rolled off the sofa.

"Says he misses us, asked if the bitch still came over, and said stuff about Seungcheol."

"Who said what about me?" Seungcheol walked into the room.

"Mind your own business, hetero."

"It's literally about me! How is it not my business?! And stop saying that."

"We're talking about you, not to you." Jeonghan stood up and dragged Joshua to his room.

"Why are you so rude to him?" Joshua asked.

"I'm the rude one?" Jeonghan scoffed. He was right that Seungcheol usually was a dick to him but Joshua understood he was in a bad mood today. Jeonghan wasn't making it any better. Joshua didn't want to argue though.

"Whatever, what did Chan say?"

"Someone must've told him what happened earlier because he said to stay away from Seungcheol whenever he's super mad. Oh, and to not let him do anything stupid or leave him home alone."

"That doesn't sound too good..."

"It can't mean anything that bad, I'm sure." He sounded like he wasn't so sure. "Worry later, today's been a long day."

He jumped onto his bed and called the other over. While Jeonghan seemed to have no problem sleeping, Joshua's head was clouded with thoughts. He thought about what it was like to accept his crush on Jeonghan but there were also thoughts on Seungcheol. Was he alright? What did Chan mean by "anything stupid?"
