chapter 36

As every morning went, Joshua woke up before Jeonghan could. His mind couldn't process that the day before had actually happened until he looked down to see his boyfriend asleep in his arms. The elder looked quite peaceful and it was adorable to the American. If you asked how he'd felt, he was honestly quite proud of himself for it.

After all, he was nervous as hell for it and it ended up being a great decision.

My best friend is now my first boyfriend, he thought to himself with a smile as he sat up to get ready for the day ahead. Before he stood up from the bed, he placed a kiss onto Jeonghan's forehead, watching as a small smile appeared on the boy's face.

As every morning went, Seungcheol was sitting in his place at the table with the laptop open, typing away. Recently, he'd begun taking his work much more seriously and the American had to admit he was proud of him. The older man was changing for the better and it made Joshua feel like a parent-even if he was the younger one.

"Morning, Seungcheol!" he cheerfully greeted and sat down in his seat at the breakfast table. To his confusion, he hadn't gotten a reply.

Coming to the conclusion the elder had his AirPods in his ears, hidden beneath his ever growing hair, Joshua mentally shrugged it off and started to eat. Unlike how every morning went, there was an awkward tension between them.

Maybe I'm only overthinking.

He repeated the words thinking to himself in an attempt to convince himself that the silence was the only reason but it was clear the elder had noticed the aura as well. Rather than pointing it out, he only closed his laptop and walked away, mumbling some excuse so he wouldn't come off as rude.

Despite not having heard it, Joshua told him it was alright and continued to eat, avoiding thinking about what had just happened until he was done with his breakfast.

Had he done something wrong? The worry began to settle in his mind as he washed his plate. Did something happen to Seungcheol?

He didn't want to bother the man with questions but he told himself if it went on the rest of the day, he'd question it tomorrow.

Before he could continue to overthink, he felt a pair of arms wrap around his waist and a chin rest atop his shoulder. A quiet yawn came from behind him and Joshua only smiled as he reached up to pat the man's head.

"Morning, Hannie."

"Good morning, Joshuji," he replied and pressed his lips to the younger's neck, to which he let out a gasp at but continued to dry off the plate.

"Don't do that, I could've dropped the plate," Joshua grumbled, rolling his eyes and looked down at his boyfriend who had a smug grin on his face.

"One plate isn't much of a difference to a rich guy like Seungcheol," Jeonghan reasoned and stood back up straight. "And besides, am I not allowed to love my boyfriend?"

"That's not what I meant," the American replied with a small laugh and turned to face the other. "Give me a warning next time."

"Sure, if I remember. Why, is your neck sensitive?"

Joshua kept silent, not wanting to admit the truth. From Jeonghan's growing grin, he definitely already knew the answer. Indeed, he had a sensitive neck especially if he wasn't expecting anything to happen to it.

"Shut up, don't say anything," the younger of the two interrupted as Jeonghan's mouth opened. "Go eat -wait, no it's too early for that, right?"
