Chapter 34

Horoki woke up and rubbed his eyes as his alarm went off. He then turned his alarm off and looked down to see Jiro holding his chest. He smiled softly and kissed her head, she opened her eyes and yawned. "You weren't supposed to wake up." Horoki said smiling. "Can't I convince you to stay..?" Jiro said with tired eyes. "I'm going and there's nothing you can do." Horoki said with a smile. "Please don't do anything stupid Horoki. I want you in one piece, not pieces." Jiro muttered as she turned over. Horoki got up and got his costume, he went to meet with Endeavor and Todoroki who were at the police station. "Can't believe we're gonna be doing hero work finally." Horoki said. "We have been doing hero work. Just not legally." Todoroki said. Endeavor came up to the two students, "keep your guard up. These are the Yakuza we are after. It doesn't matter if you are just kids, they will kill you." Endeavor said. "Good pep talk dad." Todoroki said, Endeavor then decided to talk to some of the police about their plan. Aizawa then saw the two and put his hands in his pockets, "I see Endeavor chose to bring you two." He said. "Yes sir." Todoroki said. "Any idea what we're dealing with?" Horoki asked. "Supposedly the Yakuza has been working on Quirk destroying bullets. Tamaki got shot with one but his quirk has recovered. We don't know if they improved their bullets but proceed with caution." Aizawa said. "Anything else?" Todoroki asked. "They have a child by the name of Eri." Aizawa added. "They're kidnapping children now?" Horoki asked. "No, we believe that Overhaul and Eri are related somehow. We also believe she might be connected to making the bullets." Aizawa said. "Wow, so it's her quirk that's making the bullets?" Horoki asked. "In some way, yes. Overhaul's quirk is that he can break anything down and put it back together. We believe that he's using Eri to help him make the bullets." Aizawa explained. "So it's a sort of seize and desist and a rescue mission?" Todoroki questioned his teacher. "Yes. Be on your guard, we don't know what to expect." He said as he walked away. Todoroki and Horoki met with Uraraka and Tsu. "Oh hey guys!" Uraraka said. "You guys are in on this too?" Horoki asked. "Yep! And we were told to keep an eye on you." Uraraka added. "Ribbit." Tsu simply said. Horoki chuckled, "aww is Jiro looking out for me?" Horoki said. "Yeah, so don't go and die on her." Uraraka pouted. "Pshh like anything bad happens to me." Horoki laughed. "Didn't your parents die and you got kidnapped?" Tsu asked with a finger on her chin. "Shut up you amphibian!!!" Horoki shouted with a hurt tone in his voice. Todoroki snickered to himself and a voice called all the heroes to get ready for the invasion.

The group charged in and were plowing through the grunts, Horoki felt his heart race as he saw the other heroes take them down with ease. Horoki never thought he would see this many people that would try and stop them. Horoki, Todoroki and Endeavor were able to break through and go through the secret tunnels that Night-Eye provided. The three ran through what seemed like an endless tunnel, suddenly they received word that someone in the Yakuza had a quirk to rearrange the tunnels. "Well that's just great! We could be dealing with a maze for all we know!" Horoki shouted, suddenly, Endeavor saw a wall from above going down on Horoki and Todoroki. Endeavor pushed them aside and the wall came down, separating the students and the pro hero. "Boys! You must continue to venture forward! Complete your mission! We will try and meet up once we find the villain that is using this quirk!" Endeavor shouted to the wall, hoping the kids can hear him. "Ok Endeavor!" Horoki shouted from the other side. "And boys! Be careful!" Endeavor added as he continued to venture into the maze.

The two continued to venture deep into the unknown, not knowing what to prepare for. "Do we know what this Eri girl looks like?" Horoki asked. "Well, considering that she's a child, I would assume a small girl." Todoroki simply said. "Ok guess that was a stupid question to ask." Horoki said sheepishly. They suddenly heard metal grinding against the brick walls. Horoki and Todoroki gritted their teeth and saw the sparks coming from the shadows of the corridor. They then see Sumbo, the scorpion villain come out with a devilish grin. "Well hello boys." He hissed. Horoki and Todorki felt their blood freeze as he showed his needle like fanged grin, his mouth splitting into 3 parts as he yawned. "Been waiting a long time for some payback Youngblood." He said. Todorki gulped, "your mouth..." he said. "Yeah, I figured to cover it up to avoid scaring people, but I realized that my foes get a whole lot more yeller when they see my jaws." Sumbo chuckled. They then saw a purple glow from the shadows and Puppet Master appeared next to Sumbo. The glow coming from his cane. "Hello gentleman." He said. "So I guess I gotta beat another lesson into you huh fang face?" Horoki said as he twirled his knife. "Oh trust me, it's gonna be you who's gonna learn a lesson." Sumbo said as his tail swayed and poison began to drip from the barb. Todoroki then got into his fighting stance, "we don't have time for you. Get out of our way." He threatened them. The room then began to get smaller, the villains gave sick grins. "You use your quirks, you'll damage the base and collapse it, trapping everyone." Sumbo said. "I can't use my quirk or I'll end up killing all of us." Todoroki said. "Then use it in small increments. Like a fire fist or something like that." Horoki said. Sumbo then charged at Horoki and swung his tail down at the student. He dodged and Todorki was facing Puppet Master. Puppet Master used his thumb to throw his cane at Todoroki's stomach, who was surprised to know that his cane was also sword, felt the end of his cane hit his stomach. He felt the air rush out of his lungs and coughed, he dodged Puppet Master's blade. He used his ice to make a blade of his own and clashed with his. The two fought like skilled swordsman and pushed their blades, their eyes meeting. "I plan to make Shigaraki a very happy man by bringing Endeavor's son alive." He said with a grin. "Shame that won't be happening." Todoroki said as he tried to throw a fire fist at Puppet Master, who promptly dodged the attack and headbutted Todoroki, his head flew black as blood spewed from his nose. He then felt a bug crawl on the back of his neck, he grabbed it and burned the poor insect, leaving it on the floor. The four noticed the walls caving in on them, Sumbo and Horoki were using this to their advantage, clashing blades with each other. "If it weren't for me having such a grudge against you, I'd think you woulda been an amazing outlaw." Sumbo said as he swiped at Horoki. "Too bad that's not my thing anymore." Horoki said as he swiped at Sumbo's leg, which created a scratch on his armor. "Getting slow old man." Horoki teased as he side stepped another slash from Sumbo. Sumbo snarled, slamming his tail against Horoki, who slammed into the wall. Sumbo drew his gun, loading a bullet into the chamber, "to hell with this!" He shouted, he then aimed his gun at Todoroki who was too busy fighting Puppet Master to notice the gunman drawing his weapon. Horoki got up and charged at Sumbo, Horoki grabbed the gun and tried to disarm him, a gunshot rang out and Sumbo headbutted Horoki. He stumbled back and growled, "hey Puppet! We gotta go now! I'm getting claustrophobic!!" Sumbo said as he ran to his partner in crime. A door opened up and the two scuttled out of there, Todoroki tried to run to the wall but it closed before he could arrive. "Dammit! Horoki, use your smoke quirk and try and open it from the other side!" He shouted to Horoki. Horoki got up and focused his energy to no avail, "I-I can't! I can't seem to use my quirk!" Horoki shouted. "What about your clones?! See if you can use them to budge the door!" Todoroki said as the walls began to get closer and closer. Horoki then tried to focus his energy again but couldn't get it to work. "No no! I can't use any of them!" Horoki shouted. Todoroki went to him and used his ice quirk to freeze the door and smash it in, he grabbed Horoki and helped him up, the two were then able to get out through the door and escaped.

The two then wandered the endless maze, looking around for an exit. "We can't continue on like this. We are gonna have to find a way out and get you some medical attention." Todoroki said. "What me? I'm fine!" Horoki said, trying to get up on his own, he then let out a scream and held his leg, which has a bullet wound in it. "Oh man...I'm gonna have to take it out." Todoroki said as he set him down. "You wouldn't happen to have any thin knives that could help take the bullet out would you?" Todoroki asked. Horoki fished into his bag and pulled out two thin hairpin knives. "They're supposed to be a gift for Jiro. Shut up and take it out!" Horoki said. Todoroki cauterized the knives to disinfect them. Horoki took his hoodie off and tied the leg so that it would stop bleeding, he then bit into the handle of his knife and felt the searing hot metal come in contact with his skin. Horoki screamed as Todoroki fished around in his leg for the bullet, he then tapped something that was hollow. "I think that's it." Todorki said. He put pressure and Horoki screamed more, "moan!!! Ith moan!!" Horoki screamed. "Moan?" Todoroki asked. Horoki spat out the knife, "bone you half wit!!! Bone!!!!" Horoki screamed. He fell down and panted hard, Todoroki continued to fish while Horoki howled in pain and began to recite every curse word known to the human language. Todoroki then felt something round and grabbed it with the hairpins, using them as pliers, he pulled out the bullet and passed out with pain. Todoroki hauled Horoki over his shoulder and saw a flame like figure running towards them. The man was Endeavor, who had backup. "Get this student outside now! He needs medical attention!" He shouted to the police. Todorki followed Horoki close and saw him get taken to the hospital. "You did good Todoroki." Endeavor muttered as he saw his son follow his friend to the hospital.

Horoki woke up and felt his head throbbing, he coughed and moved his legs but immediately felt some pain. He moved the covers and saw his leg had been bandaged up, he then saw Todoroki walk in with some breakfast. "Oh you're awake. That's good, I made some breakfast." Todoroki said as he placed the small table infront of Horoki. He looked at Todoroki with a raised eyebrow, "why are you here?" Horoki asked. "My father told me to watch over you." Todoroki simply said. "Can you still use your quirk?" Todoroki asked. Horoki sat in bed and concentrated on turning into to smoke but got nothing. "No dice." Horoki sighed. "Doctors are worried you might've gotten hit with a bullet that permanently removes your quirk." Todoroki said. Horoki felt his heart sink, "if I lose my quirks, then does that mean I won't go to U.A anymore?" Horoki asked. Todoroki got quiet and thought about it, "I would think so? I mean, you wouldn't be a hero anymore." Todoroki explained. Horoki felt his stomach turn and he looked out the window to see the sun high in the sky, "how long was I out?" Horoki asked. "Well. We attacked super early in the morning yesterday and it's around noon now. I'd say about a good 24 hours?" Todoroki said, throwing some quick math out. "Does Jiro know?" Horoki asked. "No. Not yet. As far as I know, I'm the only one that knows you're quirkless." Todoroki said, crossing his arms at a Horoki. The doctor then came in and smiled, "glad to see you're awake, I'm afraid I'm must ask you to leave sir, I need to do a checkup with my patient." The doctor said to Todoroki. He nodded and left, Horoki then looked up and sighed as the doctor checked his clipboard. "What am I gonna do..?" Horoki said to himself.
