4 years old....
The two little girls giggled as they ran behind the tree, hiding from Y/n's parents', thinking that the small little tree would hide them. But it didn't, and their giggles and whispers didn't help either. But the parents' let them do what they wanted and pretended that they couldn't see them.
"Ooh, where'd they go?" Y/n's mom asked, looking at Y/n's dad with a pout.
"I don't know, maybe they disappeared!" He said, shrugging his shoulders. "But, if they aren't here, who's gonna eat this ice cream?" The girls gasp when they heard that special word, running out behind the tree as they shouted for ice cream over and over again.
As the two sat down on the checkered blanket to eat their ice cream, the parents' sat on the bench that was a few feet away. "I have a feeling, one day, they'll be more than friends."
"I would say bet, but I can see it, they're adorable and cute together." Y/n's mom chuckles, looking at the two girls - who were now messy - and sent them a smile.
10 years old....
Madison walked up to Y/n's front, door ready for their sleepover and knocked. This was their annual Friday night sleep over, and this night, Madison was sleeping over at Y/n's house. Which she didn't mind because she didn't really want to clean up her room.
The door was thrown open, Y/n jumping in the dark haired girl's arms as they both giggled uncontrollably. "You saw me at school earlier!"
"You're my best friend! The rules state we have to see each other more than just in school! Besides, I missed you." Y/n pressed a wet and noisy kiss to Madison's cheek, that caused the young girl to whine and wince.
"Ewwwwww! Y/n!" Y/n just laughs, getting off her friend, but pulls her inside and up to her room. No-one noticing the blush that took over Madison's cheeks.
Once inside the lavender colored room, Y/n grabbed Madison's bag and put it inside the closet, before walking over to her desk. "What's that?" The book was thick and the young girl didn't understand it all too much. Too many number and letters together. Who puts letters with math?
"Oh, Mrs. Blossom said I was advanced in Math, so she gave me this Algebra book! It's easy too! But I need a special calculator."
"Nerd." Madison laughs out, while Y/n rolls her eyes and blushes.
"Mean. Wanna watch a movie?" Madison nods, and lays on Y/n's bed, waiting for her to pick.
15 years old...
"Hey, you okay? Your text made me worry." Y/n gave her a tight lipped and a single nod.
"Yea, but I need to tell you something that I've been hiding from you." Madison slowly sits in front of Y/n, taking her hand and gently squeezing it.
"Whatever it is, I'll be here no matter what." Y/n let out a watery laugh, sniffling as she wiped her cheeks.
"Um... I.. I was born differently from other girl's..." Y/n mutters, playing with a loose piece of thread.
"Y/n?"
"Um... I'm still the same person you know, but I was just made differently... I have a... y'know..." she gesters with her hands, not really wanting to say it.
"A what? A tail?"
"No! How do you get 'a tail' outta that!? I was born with a.... a dick..." Y/n looks down, not wanting to see the disgusted look on her friend's face. But when she feels her hand get squeezed and hears Madison laughing, she looks up at her friend, and sends her a frown.
"I'm not laughing at you, but at thinking you had a tail. Baby, I don't care if you did have a tail or had three boobs or three nipples or whatever. You're my best friend till the end, my ride or die and my partner in crime. I will always love you no matter what." Y/n lets out a wet laugh, pulling Madison in for a tight hug.
"I love you too..."
20 years old...
Hearing the doorbell go off wasn't that much of a surprise since she knew Madison was coming. But how she opened the door, was always the same. She jumped into her friends arms and hugged her tight, kissing all over Madison's face. "Hi baby girl, how are you?" Madison mumbles against Y/n's neck as she holds her tightly.
"I'm okay, missing you." She whispers, letting out a sigh.
"Babe.." Madison gently pushes Y/n off, who's left confused.
"Are you okay?"
"Go out with me?" Madison holds up the roses that she bought for Y/n. Letting out a surprised chuckle.
"You... you like me?" Madison nods, sending her a small smile. "For how long?" Y/n questions, gently grabbing the roses from her friend's hand.
"Years...got those feelings when I was 14."
"13... I was 13 when I figured out I wanted you to just be mine. I'm in love with you Maddie... have been for forever."
"So, is that a yes then?"
"A big yes, and I'll raise you a be my girlfriend?" Madison giggles, wrapping her arms around her new girlfriend and kissing her cheek softly.
After Y/n puts her flowers in a vase, they head out for dinner, both excited for the night.
