The Chase

Sylvari's POV

"You broke through my barrier." I said softly in disbelief.

I was dumbfounded that he waltzed right in without me realizing it. I was too distracted in that moment, our moment.

Snapping myself out of it, I force pushed him away from me and turned to run. I could feel him reaching out, trying to grab my arm. Luckily, I dodged his advance. Focusing, I created two identical clones of myself, each one darting away in different directions.

I noticed Kylo Ren hesitate, trying to decide which version of myself to follow. Suddenly, I felt his force pull on my other two clones. They screamed as he pulled them back. I picked up my pace, knowing he wouldn't be far behind me now. I opened my door to the forest outside.

"Raya!" I yelled confidently.

Not a second later he appears, riding in my direction. I grab onto him as he rides by me, giving myself a force push on top of his back. We rode deep into the forest away from Kylo Ren.

Kylo's POV

Standing in the this white bedroom, I shook with anger.

How had she escaped? I nearly had her! She was within my grasp! I was livid.

I could feel her warm breath through my glove as I looked into her eyes.

Now, she was gone. All alone in this space, I missed the sense of calm I felt in in her presence.

I felt utterly alone. Heavily sighing, I brought my emotions under control and began my search for my princess.

Sylvari's POV

Raya and I had traveled a few miles away from my home. I realize this is where I spent most of my time. It's a peaceful spot where I spent many days in meditation. I hopped off his back and walk towards the small pond and sat by its edge.

"Raya I..." he cuts me off mid sentence.

"No need to say anything my child, I hear you. He is your destiny. You cannot run from him. He will always know where you are no matter how far you run."

I knew within my spirit that what he said was true, but I couldn't forget what I had seen when I infiltrated his mind.

"But Raya, he is a monster! When I was in his mind I saw him strike down innocents. He has killed countless men, women, and children. Whole villages in the name of his First Order!" I said angrily.

My heart and my brain were at war. I took a minute to gather my thoughts.

"But as soon as he caressed my cheek and held my face to his I saw light within him. It was just a smoldering ember, extremely dim, waiting for the moment it would grow to engulf him. With that, I had hope that he might not be all consumed by the dark side. I could feel that one day there could be balance within him."

As quickly as that hope had entered my body, it vanished, leaving the cold sting of reality.

Kylo Ren had stepped into my view.
