"Well, you shall see him then" , replied Fury.

I was surprised. Yes, he'd promised to do this but still... I hadn't delivered much. I'd expected Fury to back out of the trade as soon as I'd told him what I knew.

But Fury got up and walked through the room, towards the wall opposite my bed. When he was there he did something I couldn't see.

A heartbeat later the white wall was gone, replaced by glass that made it possible for me to look into the room next to mine.

This other room was completely white and there were no windows to be seen. It didn't have any furniture either, just cold looking, white floor.

But despite the complete lack of furnitur, the room wasn't empty.

Pressed against the wall of glass that had once been a very solid, not at all see-through wall was a rather big heap of orange-brown and black fur.

This had to be the tiger, curled up against the glass, asleep, apparently for it did not move.

I felt like moving though. A lot.

The second I'd spotted the animal my heart had jumped and then it had started to race. But it wasn't the kind of heartbeat you ended up with when you were scared, which, to be honest, would have been normal. No, my heart was full of happy excitement and longing.

All I wanted was to get up and embrace the violent predator that was lying there, snoring.

"Can ... can he hear us?" , I muttered while swinging my legs out of bed. I knew that they wouldn't carry me. I knew, that they were too weak. But I just didn't care. Some kind of instinct had taken over and it violently ordered me to get up and walk towards this tiger.

Fury had been standing in front of the glass but now he turned around to look at me sitting there.

"It's a he then?" , he asked.

Somehow I knew, somehow I was certain.

I nodded

"His name's Jaromir" , I croaked, my eyes fixed upon the breathing ball of fur against the window.

"Wasn't that the name of your cat? Didn't you say that it had been just a fluffy black cat? Because this is a little bigger than the average pet cat" , said Fury.

I just nodded again.

And then I made to get up by pushing myself off the bed with all my might.

It took Fury a heartbeat to realise what was going on.

He caught me as I fell.

He held me for a second and then he dropped me on the bed again.

"Are you crazy?" , he hissed, glaring at me, "You could have broken your neck! I still need you!"

"I wan ... I need to touch him" , I murmured and then I rolled out of bed again.

Fury swore as he grabbed me by the shoulder.
