We didn't meet anyone on our way along endless hallways, during long elevator rides and when we stepped outside.
Not outside as in out a door and right into the heart of the city with roads and paths and people and cars.
Outside as in out onto the platform where the fight between Loki and Thor had taken place. We still went through a door though.
The platform. Thor and Loki. This iconic scene I loved. It wasn't my favourite one but Thor was muscular and good looking and Loki was elegant and super good looking and they were typical siblings with a little more weaponry. And murderous intent.
And now I was here, outside, the sun bathing me in it's light somewhere I shouldn't be and for the first time since waking up in this world I didn't feel scared or misplaced.
With the sun warming my skin, making me feel comfortable in the exact way only sunshine could on a warm spring day. With the smell of the city wavering around me, the smell of the exhaust of hundreds of cars, people smoking and exhaling their boredom or excitement into the air. The sound of cars honking and driving, ambulance sirens going off in the distance.
I felt alive. Very much so, my breath mixing with the intoxicating breath of the city.
Back in my world, which's existence I wasn't even sure about anymore, I had lived in a little village. The next city had been far away and said city had had exactly one skyscraper that hadn't exactly been high either. It hadn't had tons of people or cars. It hadn't had the anonymity of a massive city like this.
This was a completely different world than the one I was used to but I'd already glimpsed a part of it.
But here I was, looking down on a city I had seen in hundreds of movies. On the exact scene I had seen like this in a film that had me fall in love with a whole new, made up world.
Now I was part of this made up world. I was actually there.
This was real. every bit of this was real.
It felt too real, too exciting, too close to be a dream.
I'd once read an article about dreams and how to tell if it actually is a dream.
Clocks. Time. Time didn't work in dreams. I'd ask Fury to give me a watch so I could determine the time and it's passing. So I could prove to myself that I was right here, right now.
And even if it was a dream.. If I knew that it was I could actually influence it.
I probably was living every MARVEL fans dream right now. Out here, on the scene.
I was in awe, excited beyond anything I had ever been.
I wanted to get up and dance across this platform with New York at my feet and my dreams in my hands, spin around and around until the world got blurry and surreal and untouchable. Until I stumbled and fell, ending up laughing on the floor, staring up at a blue sky that wasn't the one I was used to but still a damn beautiful sky.
I wanted to see every bit of this world, travel where I'd been in my fantasy, staring at movie screens, watching things happen that were magical and beautiful and beyond my influence.
