I read my coworker's message and put my phone back down so I could get ready for work. She was right, I've been gone for far too long and using the line 'I'm sick' isn't going to work anymore.
Everyone knew that Kai and Xavier gave a week off if you could prove that you were sick, but three weeks was pushing it. Not only are people at work are starting to notice my absence, but word started circling that I lost my job and people have already started putting in their applications.
Shit, I don't want to go, but I got to secure the bag before I decide to do anything outrageous and quit my job.
With a loud huff, I slowly got out of my bed and walked to the bathroom to get ready. The hickeys on my neck finally faded away so I no longer had to cover them with makeup. That alone took thirty minutes of my day to do so I'm rather happy that I don't have to do that shit anymore.
I followed my regular schedule and was on time for work. I greeted the receptionist and security guard who were both surprised to see me. I was the only one here when I stepped off of the elevator and I quickly started to get everything ready.
I replaced the ink in the copier and added the paper. I brewed the coffee and I turned on all of the lights. By the time I was done it was five-thirty which means I had an hour to spare before both Xavier and Kai showed up.
I walked into my office and saw stacks of folders and papers on my desk that need to be organized and filed away. If it was me three years ago then I would've had a panic attack, but now it didn't bother me. It took me less than forty minutes to file and organize everything, and when I was done I had enough time to become familiar with Kai and Xavier's schedule.
At eight-thirty they have an early morning meeting with the accountant department, then at ten fifty, they had to leave for a brunch with a couple of friends. That will take up about an hour and a half which will allow me to open and reply to some emails while they're gone. At twelve-thirty they'll be back in the building and they'll go straight to another meeting. The rest of the day will consist of them going over documents and me helping them if they needed it.
I only had to see them for half of the day which I'm extremely grateful.
Checking the time, it was six-ten. Both of them always walked in at six-fifteen which means I had five minutes to go get them coffee and put it in there office. Quickly, I ran to the break room and poured their coffee. I placed it on their desks and ran out as fast as I could.
