it's been a month since meeting nishinoya's parents. nishinoya and i are always at each other's hip now a days, though there are times when we're separated, either due to our own practices. but after school and weekends, we're together. our friendship means so much more to me than i ever thought it would mean.

he's been dragging me to his volleyball practices when i don't have piano practice, forcing me to learn some things. but every time i'd end up getting hurt thanks to being so clumsy. but today, we'll all weekend including today i've been stuck at home practicing. "stop spacing out!" ichigo waved his hand in front of my face. i blinked a few times before recalling i was in the middle of practice at home. "onee-chan is thinking about nishi again?" kyo giggled from his spot on the floor. my cheeks burned slightly, "no," i squinted my eyes playfully, causing ichigo to fake a gag. i shrug my shoulders happily and continued to practice the piece ms. honda handed me for the competition. la campanella, one of the hardest pieces i've ever tried. my fingers kept slipping up in the middle, "take it slow, you still have a month airie." ichigo reminded me from beside me. i nodded and began to play again from the beginning, this time slower. if i can get the key notes down then matching the tempo will be easier.

i felt droplets of sweat bead on my forehead, i've been practicing for three hours straight. "onee-chan take a break," kyo poked my side. "i have to get this right kyo, i'm sorry." i pouted and glanced at him. his sad eyes understood and walked away slowly. i took in a deep breath and started again, i'm nowhere near close to feeling the smallest happy with any part of this piece. "airie your phone again," ichigo called from the living room. i ignored him again, nishinoya's been calling me all day, probably because i'm skipping school for this, but it's important to me. flashes of mine and ms. honda's last meeting took place in my mind.

"airie i have a list of all the students competing!" she exclaimed running into the music room. i stopped playing the piano and stood up to meet her near the television. "there are seven students not including yourself, i'm sure you're miles about six of them!" she smiled, but that's not what i was focused on. "six?" i whispered. she nodded her head and popped in a disc before turning her attention to the screen. "this is melody takarou, she's a reining winner. she plays violin and, she's plays it beautifully." my eyes were focused on the screen as it showed a black haired girl standing in the middle of the stage. "this competition is going to be her fifteenth, and she's determined to win." i looked back at ms. honda, "why?" the questioned slipped out. "i forgot to mention, well more of i was worried to tell you," i watched the teacher slowly walk away.

"this competition, the winner will go on to compete for the title of nationalist. you'll travel worldwide and perform on a tour."

i slammed my fingers harshly on the keys, making the two boys in the house stare at me intently. "you.." ichigo started but was cut off by kyo running over to me, "onee-chan did it!!!" he leaped into my arms bringing us to clash into the carpet below. ichigo soon jumped on top of us and beamed, "i told you!! now let's celebrate!" he cheered. i couldn't comprehend words, the piece wasn't perfected, but that was the first time in weeks i was able to play each note in key and not make one mistake all the way through! my breathing was heavy but i was smiling so big. i have to tell yuu.

we all quickly got ready and made our way to the city to go out and eat, sadly i forgot my phone so i couldn't tell nishinoya to come meet us. "i'll go get us seats! come on kyo!" ichigo smiled brightly and ran ahead with kyo into the restaurant. i stood outside in the cold, my hands made there way to my scarf and held onto it. i looked up at the stars, feeling completely confident. "hm?" i hummed hearing loud footsteps coming toward me, i turned around and saw an out of breath libero. "y-y-you!" he hissed looking completely wiped out. i giggled and walked forward helping nishinoya regain his composure. "are you alright?" i kept giggling but stopped when he quickly swatted my hand away and pushed his finger into my forehead. "do you hate me?!" his loud questioned boomed in the street.
