"chance ball!" daichi shouted as he took a few steps back. i nervously kept my eye on the ball, my finger tips and toes wiggled with anticipation.

where are you going to go?

"tanaka!" suga yelled just as switched without kageyama, hinata being the perfect decoy against tsubakihara's players. tanaka let out a loud roar as he slammed the ball passed their block, the crowd went wild as it hit the opposite court.

two whistle blows were heard, my eyes lit up, we took the set!

we all ran toward ukai and kiyoko to discuss our next move. i zoned out half way and let my eyes wander to the edge of the gym. my heart shook a little, is she really not going to come? "noya come on," asahi gave me a small pat before walking away. "don't give up now noya!" tanaka gave me a bright smile and a thumbs up. i nodded, matching his enthusiasm. i wasn't in the court this time around, so i took my spot on the sidelines with the others, "knock them on their asses!" i shouted into my cupped hands.

i watched the ball like i was on the edge of my seat, come on keep it up. keep it up. i mumbled in my head over and over. one of the spikers on tsubakihara's team curved his hand to the left to try and avoid tsukishima's massive reach, i bit my tongue. "yeah! go daichi!!" i shouted happily seeing our captain dive perfectly to pick the ball back up.

we won our first game in record time. as we were walking out to rest up before our second match, i heard hinata shout a familiar name. nekoma was right in front of us. we stopped to talk with one another, my feet guiding me to my rival libero. "want to make a bet?" yaku smirked at me as soon as i got in his range.

i smirked back, tilting my head back confidently, "you don't have a chance with airie so don't even—" i was cut off by someone smacking the back of my head. "and how's your progress going?" suga smugly grinned at me. i felt my face heat up and i stomped my foot, facing yaku again. "you win, i back off for good." he nodded, i copied. "but if we win," his face turned sinisterly sarcastic, "you back down." my chest tightened. "i won't ever back down." i said firmly. "yeah? have you even talked to her since the competition?" he snicker back to his normal self.

"we gotta go!" kurro suddenly started to pull yaku away, levi jumping beside him happily. yaku didn't even turn to look back at me. i clicked my tongue and started my way to the stands. i was there before the rest of the team. i let out a low hum and leaned forward, my arms supporting my head comfortably on the railing.

"have you even talked to her since the competition?"

of course i ha- tried. it was the next day, i thought we'd be back to normal. but she still thinks i confessed to kiyoko. i closed my eyes, trying to push away my anxiousness and shaking heart to focus on our next match. i clicked my tongue and flung back into the seat, it wasn't working. why does everything feel so messed up and unfixable?! "he's going to ruin our chances if he keeps acting like that" i could heat tsukishima coldly insulting me. "noya's fine!" tanaka defended me. "hey has anyone seen yachi?" hinata pouted looking for the blonde girl he secretly (and unknowingly) has feelings for.

"yachi?!" i jumped back, almost knocking ichigo and kyo off the street. yachi stood in front of me, panting like crazy, she kept trying to speak but was running short on air. "kyo give her some water," ichigo nudged the younger boy. kyo nodded happily and handed her his water bottle, she happily chugged it empty.

"ai-airie! come with me p-please!" she breathed out smiling. i raised a brow, "where?" i spoke hesitantly. "tokyo metropolitan gymnasium!" her voice was light and airy. i blinked at her a couple times, my eyes shifting between her and the grocery's in my hands. "i uh can't?" i forced out. "kiyoko senpai asked me to not take no for an answer." she said more serious that light and airy. my heart skipped a terrible beat.
