my eyes nervously kept taking glances at the entrance of the woods and my fingers get tapping on my water bottle. "did something happen with you two?" daichi pulled me out of my thoughts. "i don't think so." the words came out of my mouth quickly, my eyes back to the woods. "why do you look like that?" he asked a little concerned. "she's a scaredy cat." i said sternly, i heard him huh back in response. "airie, she doesn't like scary things. she's scared of the dark and ghost stories and horror movies!" my heart was pumping fast thinking about the first night i stayed with her. "then why'd she offer to be a ghost?" sugawara chimed in. "i don't know.." i sighed looking at my feet.

"maybe she's feeling tough?" hinata then chirped from
behind us. "yeah! think positive! and hey this way when she tried to scare you, you'll have an opportunity to speak to her!" tanaka patted my shoulder with a wide smile. "yeah, you're right." i nodded determined, but i still couldn't shake the feeling that she was avoiding me. they way she looked away when we finally met eyes earlier..it stung deep. "team one?" kenma called out without looking away from his phone. tanaka and i were team seven, the wait is going to drown me.

"all here?" kuroo called out after his laughing fit. "uh i think so?" bokuto scratched his head from beside him as he tried to recount. i blocked out the rest of the conversation as i kept looking for a certain brunette. i didn't see her once in the forest, not along the path, not with anyone else. "do you see airie tanaka?" i pulled on his shoulder. "uhh, let me see." he shrugged and tip toed to try and find her too.

"i think airie is still in the woods!" yachi suddenly shouted frantically. my eyes shot to the entrance and before anyone could speak my feet took off and into the dark woods without a flashlight.

just stay by the front of the path, just — "ah!" i yelped staring across the dark trees when i heard a branch breaking. i shakingly held out my flashlight and was instantly relieved when i saw tsukishima snickering after scaring yamaguchi. i was about to walk toward them when there was another snapping sound behind me, i jumped around and saw the flash light start to flicker. "oh- no no no no no no!" i started to smack the metal stick before it officially died out. a small whimper was all that came out of my lips, i spun around hoping i could spot the two first years still, but they were gone already.

"j-just stay calm. i'm by the front- some-someones going to walk by and i-i'll just go with them!" i nodded at my own words. "mhm y-y-yeah! n-nothing to be scared of!" god who was i kidding! my body shivered with fear, and the cold, but mostly fear. my body jumped high in the air when the sound of someone screaming startled me. at that point i threw all caution to the wind and took off into the forest, not caring that i had no light and no sense of direction. another scream was heard a little farther back, "s-stop!" i muttered looking over my shoulder. but just as i did that my foot caught something on the ground, causing me to tumble on the ground.

"ow.." i whined softly as i sat up, i drug my leg up to examine it. i sighed sadly as i poked my ankle, wincing from the sudden jolt of pain. "i'm so dumb.." my lip quivered, how could i let myself get so scared..i know it's just the group that's screaming..right?

it felt like the dark was trying to suffocate me, like it wanted me to stare into it and imagine the creatures of the night just lurking around waiting for me to move. get up and find your way back to the beach! i tried to motivate myself and pushed myself back up, but only fell when i tried to put pressure on the swollen ankle. i hobbled over to a large tree and sank to the ground in front of it. "aahhh!" another frightening scream made me cover my ears, i could hear the laugh afterwards so why was i so scared? tears started to form in my eyes as i began to feel paralyzed from my own fears.
