Keith's POV:
Well... this is it. I'm about to be put on judgement. How will the audience vote? I looked up to see Shiro, and he heard my plea. He walked over and stood by me, placing his flesh hand on my shoulder. I took a deep, wavering breath as I stood up. I looked at everyone's expressions, and the only one I didn't like was Allura's. She looked ready to kill.
"S-so... um, I've never told anyone this before, except red, so I don't know where to start." I said nervously, and I felt Shiro squeeze my shoulder supportively.
"Start with your heritage and go from there." Lance said next to me. I looked at him, and he seemed just as nervous as I felt. That kind of helped.
"Okay... well, I'm part human..." I paused, "part galra..." another pause, and everyone's eyes widened, "and part altean." I watched as everyone's expressions changed to confusion. Clearly not what they were expecting.
"What!? How!?" Allura yelled, taking a step forward. I took another deep breath.
"I'd... rather not say yet." I replied, nervously scratching at my arm.
"How... what are your percentages?" Pidge asked, and I smirked at her. Of course she'd want to know something like that.
"35% Human, 35% Galra, and 30% Altean." I said, and she smiled.
"Do we get any proof of what you're saying?" Allura asked, and I thought for a moment.
"I can give you a blood sample? As long as you don't use it to see who I'm related to or anything. I'd like to keep that private." I said, and she hesitantly nodded.
"Alright, bring the goo. You're still going to need to eat. You too Lance." I rolled my eyes at Shiro.
"Yeah yeah." "That was easier than I thought."
Lance's POV:
So, everyone was in the medical bay now. They were taking this pretty seriously. Honestly, I'm still trying to figure out if this is what the lions meant by him being a good leader. Like, because he's genetically unbiased? I don't know.
"Alright, arm please." Pidge said, and Keith held out his arm for him. He started taking the blood. Keith wanted Pidge to do it because he didn't trust Allura and Coran to not look around at things they're not supposed to. "So, we've been friends for most of my life, and you didn't trust me enough to tell me?" he asked quietly. The shocking part; They were friends?
"I'm sorry, this isn't something you can just tell. It's complicated and the only reason Shiro knew was because he helped raise me. I'm sorry, Pidgeon." "Hah! Pidgeon. I'm calling him that now."
"I know. Okay, let's get you some proof." He turned away and started testing it. "Okaaaay... looks like he was telling the truth. Human, Galran, and Altean. He's a hybrid." he said, continuing to watch the sample.
"Okay, Pidge. That's enough." Keith said, walking over and taking the sample away. Allura scowled at him.
"Why didn't you tell us?" She said, voice low and angry.
"Because I didn't want to be interrogated because of what I am. I decided to stay because I could use my skills and knowledge to end this war. Are you really going to guilt me for not wanting to expose myself prematurely? We haven't even left the planet yet!" "Oh boy, he's about to blow."
I quickly got up and pulled him out of the room. "Lance, where are we going?" he asked, and I sighed.
"Away from them. Lions?"
"...lions." I smiled and changed our direction to go to the lion's hangers. "Why are you so calm about this? Shiro freaked out too when my dad first told him." I laughed at the thought of it.
"Because you're not the only one hiding things from the team."
