CHAPTER EIGHT

Sunday morning finally came. And it was a good day to wake up for a normal person like me. Actually, I didn't think it wasn't really normal at all; dating the hottest guy in town for three years and having all the things I wanted... yet living healthily is somewhat to be called normal.

Marco and I spent our whole morning together by the pool and after lunchtime we helped his relatives prepare for the party. It was fun being with the Grey family... but it reminded me of how happy I was when I was with Will.

That evening, everything was already set up to its places. It was a beautiful night, people were dressed as fancy as they are; sparkling clothes, shiny shoes and creative masks, drinks on the table and food was served... and Auden was sitting on the stage, smiling happily at her guests. Marco sat beside me and stared at me the whole time. Then, when family matters came in to be up on stage, I was alone on the table and finally had myself a chance to sneak out and roam around somewhere. I went upstairs and stayed at the back veranda. I looked up at the stars and suddenly smiled at how amazing they actually look more than the stars that were pasted unto my room ceiling back home.
"Great view huh."
"Yeah."
"It's a great party right there, actually. Why would you decide to put yourself here?"
"Well, I kind of felt like I need some time alone... how about you?"
"Same as your answer."
"Too bad I was the first to come here to be alone." Then we suddenly laughed. That voice was some kind of familiar for me. I looked at the guy and he did the same. Our eyes met... he took off his mask and I did too.
"Jane?"
"Will?" I was surprised. It was William. And he looked as handsome as ever.
"Jane. You look so... amazing." He said with a smile in his eyes. That was his smile I loved the most. I stood there with my eyes locked on his wonderful face. He was still smiling that smile I loved the most, and his brows suddenly twitched in wonder... thinking he might be asking as his next move.
"Why, long time no see. I can see you're having a great time with the Greys."
"Uhm, yeah. How about you?"
"Nah, my parents were invited but they failed to come over so I came here alone. The Greys were some of our good relatives... you know, Marco and Auden are my second cousins on the father side."
"Oh, yeah. Why wouldn't I know?" then we both chuckled. I feel like I wanted to hug him or hold his hand and tell him that I am his girlfriend for three years... and yet I thought it would never work that way...
"It's nice seeing you again, Jane."
"Same here, Will."
"There you are bae. Are you alright? You disappeared right after the family introduction." Marco came walking at us.
"Oh, I'm sorry Marco. I just needed some fresh air and then I bumped unto William."

Marco suddenly twitched his eyebrows with wonder. He turned to look at William and did a fake smile that felt like I was the only one who could ever know that it was a fake one.
"Hey, cousin. Nice to see you again." He held out his hand and shook hands with Will.
"Pleasure to meet you again, too. I am happy to see you together. Best wishes."

William turned to me as he had spoken the word, 'together.' It sounded like it broke him into pieces together inside. I swallowed hard and felt a tension in between them.
"I guess we better get going, dear?"
I told Marco as I held out his left arm.
"Oh, yeah. Auden is looking for you actually. She wanted to talk about something. But she didn't tell me what it's about."
"Alright. We better go."

We finally bid goodbye to Will and left him standing there. I don't know if he was watching us leave or not... but in my mind I thought of him... praying that somehow, in some way, he might remember being with me.
